Re: What did you do to your WK today?
Actually got a chance to work on the WK a bit this weekend.
First was the pinch weld mod. I only did the driverís side as it was the only one rubbing but it was a bit of an adventure. I first spent the morning driving around getting the parts I needed Ė cut off wheel being the biggest one. After I got home, I unpacked my new electric grinder and found out the cutoff wheels donít work on that, only griding wheels so cutting slots in the pinch weld wasnít going to work. Ended up just hammering it down so the very bottom laid flat and then slowly unfolded the rest of the way up. Couldnít really go much further than that as my arms felt like jell-o at that point. Did the primer/paint afterwards and then the wheel well liner was a pain to get right. I already had a big hole it in from rubbing for the last 6-8 months, but was able to close it most of the way up with my heat gun and hammer combo. I thought all was well until I got in the car this morning to go to work and the stupid liner is still rubbing. Guess Iím not quite done yet.
Also plasti-dipped my B and C pillars. I think they look pretty good from a distance, but up close it looks a little cheesy. Didnít spend a whole lot of time prepping and taped it off with duct tape, but wanted to see how I liked it before putting in a ton of effort. I really does make the whole Jeep look newer so that part I really like.
I also spent some time driving around my fianceís new Mini Cooper Countryman over the weekend. After punishing the little turbo 6 speed all over town for the day, it was still getting 27+ mpg. Not to mention it feels like a race car! After seeing the 13.5mpg Iím getting from feathering the gas on my WK, Iím actually considering selling the Jeep for a Mini nowÖ
