I would expect the weight of the skid plate to affect more than the removal of the air dam (aerodynamics), but tbh I am sure with the weight of the truck at roughly 3 tonne with driver/passenger, the impact will be 'negligible'. Same goes for fuel economy. nearly every mod has an impact somewhere to some extent, worth it for me when it comes to wheeling and looks

I think I have counter balanced the impact with a cat back, BMC dual cone CAI, 93 Oct Tune and a consistent service record
Aero and fuel milage took a hit on mine with the airdam off. With it on i have seen the north side of 130, with it off it wont break 120. Fuel on the high way dropped from 28-30, to 24-26 at best. So to answer that question yes. Airdam off will hurt performance, at least in my aspects. If your build is for offroad and not performance then by all means go for the added off road protection. Just my two cents

05-7 would look better without the airdam but add the 4x4guard skid on her. 08-10 needs the airdam to look proper in my opinion. Without it performance and fuel mileage suffers.

Fair point, tbh I didn't measure a before and after, and drive most highway with the airdam on. Just take it off now and then for clearance and for a change in look. The biggest problem for me for removal of the air dam is the storage; and a wife complaining about car parts scattered everywhere (pain of not having a garage) :roll eyes: thats why I keep it on most times
