2 ohms can be driven harder as they are easier to run and will produce more volume. 4 ohms will make the amp run a little hotter

Whats the advantage of a 4 then? So a 600 rms amp at 4 ohms is 1200rms at 2ohms?

If I bridge my amp don't I bump it to 4ohms? How does that work connecting a 4ohm amp to a 2ohm sub?

it will still run the sub but you may not be running it optimally

If that's a Type-R sub, it ain't too bad. I paid about $120 for my 12" Type-R, $40 for a sealed box, and then $200 for my amp. So $400 would be a pretty good deal. Alpine makes SOLID amps (as long as you get one with the proper ratings). Just make sure you don't cheap out and get the Type-E subs. The R's are where it's at!

It depends on the amp I have the new alpine pdx amps and they run the same watts for any ohm setup 4 or 2. It's 1000w rms any way and 3000 watts peak.

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

Today, due to intermittent ignition failures, I had to actually visit the local stealer and pick up a new ignition switch. Glad I made it this long (9yrs) without having to have it replaced. It was causing my remote start to fail, and was also making it so I had to frequently try to start the WK about 30x just to get the starter to engage. Funny that I isolated it to this ignition switch by remembering to try to hold the key at strange angles and it seemed to get the ignition to turn more frequently.

The problems just arose this weekend and for fear of getting stuck somewhere or being in a hurry and not being able to get there in time, I paid the ridiculous price of $69.50 for the part. I know it's like $45 shipped just about any other place online but I needed it today. Screw the dealer! For anyone else who is interested, they are now on revision AI of the part (ridiculous I know), and the part number I got was 0468 6719 AI (mfg 10-30-2013).

I also had to order new radiator cooling hoses for a weeping drip at the crimps, which thankfully can be had on Amazon for $51.50 shipped ($90 at local stealer before tax).

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

400 doesn't sound too bad if it's a type r and a v power amp. Are you getting ported or sealed box? I have the alpine type x made of carbon fiber this things a beast!!!! I got the sub for about 150 used and the amp for about 500. It's 1000 watts rms though so there is sooo much power and boom. Also make sure you check your charging system even With my old amps that were around 600 watts rms it used more power then the jeep could give it. Once I upgraded to a dual battery the sub got so much louder because it was getting the power it needed.
