Well that rules out a dropped valve. Pull the valve covers and check for excessive play in the rockers and on the push rods. Also video the other cylinders too. I wanna rule out the top end as much as possible

This its kinda stumped me too. If it was just a bit of play in the top end it wouldn't have damaged the plugs right? Is it possible it spun a bearing? If it was just bad rings it wouldnt have killed the plugs either. Oh yeah and the second plug in the cylinder was completely shattered.

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

Weird. Yea bad rings would just give crap compression wouldn't damage plug unless ring broke off and got smashed to top of cylinder? That's all I can think of

Even if 1 ring went it wouldn't escape the valley on the piston and get into the combustion chamber to cause the damage. If it could though it would explain the noise and damaged plug, I just don't see it happening. And you put a second plug in and it shattered the porcelain from impact again?

It could possibly be bad guides. You wont see the valves wobble at slow speed like in the video. Maybe under load and stress of it running the play would become a parent. What ever the cause tho, something impacted the plugs.

Yup last 2 pics are looking down at the top of the piston. I was curious about that impression too, but its too big to be a valve causing that impression.

That's still the only viable possibility I can think of. I'm not familiar with this specific head config but if the valve seats are close enough to the plug, then bad/missing guide may allow one of the valves to go off track so to speak and hit the plug on its way back to seat. And like you said, low speed diagnostic turn over won't put enough pressure or speed on the valve to make the wandering apparent. I think once the cover is off and you start going through the valve train, the issue will present itself pretty obviously. Keep the updates coming though, curious to see if our brainstorm diagnostics are anywhere on target.

Well even if the seats came out, it wont wobble unless the guides are shot. I hope we are at least close.
