He said they were just announced @ this years SEMA I believe and the company making them (pioneer?) is mighty proud of em, carried a price tag upwards of $2k. I've been looking at the new tech from Apple partnered with various auto makers called carplay. Not sure if it'll be available in the aftermarket but looks promising if you're caught in the iOS web, it integrates your apps (nav, music, pandora, etc.) to your head unit and allows full function of your iPhone/iPod from the HUD. My clarion does most of this via Bluetooth and/or USB already but there's always the latest and greatest tech for eye candy...

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

Before this alpine I had 2 other single dins loved them all and all did great with iPod and Bluetooth. The stock radio sucks. Once you upgrade it sounds soooo much better.

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

But if you guys are looking for a cheap unit. Best buy has a kenwood for like 79 bucks I think it does iPod, USB, and aux and has a bunch of other cool features and sounds pretty good. I just installed it in my integra. I also bought 2 sets of kenwood speakers for 20 bucks a set lol. Cheapest stereo install ever but sounds pretty decent.

Yeah but I'm very particular about that. Everything needs to look and feel like it came that way, and a bezel just takes that away. My rec has all those functions except pandora, which I get thru my phone, so I'm reluctant to upgrade, unless I find a radio that fits without a filler. They used to have one like that for the old wjs.

Really without a dash kit? I would be really interested. Do you have more info?

Yup. I was looking at the unit for my wife's 2012 outback that they had on the shelf, we got her every option they offered but the oem nav unit looks like an Atari 1600 so I was entertaining the idea of swapping. The guy @ the shop told me they have all the odd sizes to fit factory nav bezels for various vehicles coming down the pipe, from the standard 7" all the way up to an 11" I believe. Sounded crazy to me but he had the propaganda from the manufacturer with a list of applications and the WK1&2 were there. Next time I'm on that side of town I'll pop in and grab some intel.

I had the basic stereo too. I bought a NAV bezel on eBay for $60. I also got the unit (Pioneer AVH4500BT) on eBay. It's manufacturer refurbed and it cost only $270.

I didn't need a different bezel, mine was already a 2din

I'm talking about the navigation bezel. That came stock on jeeps equipped with the my gig I believe not the filler plastic piece. They sell sizes that can fit that opening without a dash kit.

ah yes, but the interiors where changed in 08 to the dash (other then the cf) you see. my factory radio was the same size as the my gig and the side plates are needed no matter what in order to mount the radio. aftermarket decks don't have the tabs on them to mount to the dash...

Picked up from mechanic last night. Starts right up and started right up this am to head to work. Woohoo. Lol. Noticed no more TPMS service warning last night, figured maybe was resolved with the battery disconnect, but it began flashing again this am. Also my traction control button no longer illuminating. Well that's 3 in that row now. Traction, park assist, and passenger side heated seat. As soon as I get some time I need to remove it and send off to lxharness to have the bulbs replaced.
