Negative I used quick splice connectors ! Honestly it was kind of hard but worked out great

It takes only like 15 mins to install... That is if you remember to connect both connectors lol

There's a detailed writeup on here or JF on how to do this. It's been done many a times before. You just need to use a dremel to create the right sizes holes for the buttons (which clip in). Then you buy the OEM buttons from J4J for like $30. All of the WK's already have the electrical connections for the hookups under the airbag.

I saw all this stuff when I had to replace my factory buttons because they wore out and stopped functioning correctly.

There's one with a pictoral how-to (I think on JF) but I quickly found this instructions version on here: Steering Wheel Controls

Edit, this doesn't have the cutting instructions like the other one does, but all you have to do is make a shape cut-out that matches the buttons when you order them. Voila!

I got it on eBay it came with everything I needed I'm not too sure about the bypass that's something to talk about with the eBay seller I got it through a guy named Doug I could send you his info just let me know
