Re: What did you do to your WK today?

Truck Norris- i was in the same mindset when i first looked in to the clay. I was reading about the clay marring the paint and such. BUT take ur time and do it right and it'll make ur paint smooth like a baby's ass!

once the clay hits the ground, it's done..throw it out.
Try the meguiars claybar kit. It' comes with 2 bars of clay i believe, you can break it off to 2 or 3 pieces. Either 1/2 of 1/3 of the bar can do the whole jeep. You do need to keep the paint wet with Detailer(provided in the kit) while using the clay. I use a citrus wash(chemical guys) to strip off everything on the paint, down to the clear and proceed to clay. After clay rewash and continue on compund, polish, seal, wax

and yes you will need to fold the clay. Depending on how much dirt it picks up, keep folding it.

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

So yea i was planning to get an oil change today...woke up at 7am, brought it to the shop saw 6 cars ahead of me with 2 bays alreayd occupied. Ask the worker and he said maybe 2hrs Went to another shop and they ran out of 5w20! SOB!

Im taking this as a sign of doing my own change. Im a DIY guy and hate paying for labor so im looking into it. I never done it but glanced through a few threads and looking to tackle this next week!

What oil/filter do you guys recommend? I normally use reg Mobil 1.

Bro if you can change a water pump, oil is a walk in the park. Get Mobil 1 oil and a k & n filter. Or if your feeling cheap get a mopar filter.

@Strongjeff: what I *should* have said was "it CAN leave scratches..."

I didn't mean like SCRATCHES. It's more like halos (like you might see if you hold a light over the paint.). As it pulls crap out of the paint, you're running the same crap over the paint. They're not horrible. You're gonna compound/glaze, polish, synthetic wax and (you should if you haven't tried it) carnauba wax. All that'll take out the halos.

It takes the finish all the way to the clear coat. If you drop it rinse it out, otherwise you can go thru the whole car without rinsing it. It doesn't need to be folded over or anything. It lasts 3x as long as clay. It doesn't leave marring like clay.

What did you do to your WK today?

So currently being held back by my Bilstein 5100 shocks on brakes and suspension! Hopefully they will ship soon... My half shafts are starting to sound really bad
Plans on suspension:
New half shafts (precision)
New tie rods
Bilstein 5100
Srt sways
Timken axle seal
Greasable sway bushings

It's CAKE, bro!
Changing your oil is easier than washing your car!
Position the drain pan under the drain plug.
Loosen the drain plug.
Let all oil drain out.
Put in the drain plug. Tighten it finger tight and 1/4 turn more.
Move the pan under the filter.
Take off the filter.
Let all oil drain out.
Put on a new filter. Tighten it hand tight.
Fill her up with whatever flavor oil you want.
I use synthetic Penzoil. I used to use synthetic Castrol.
Don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard once you go synthetic, you can't (shouldn't?) go back to conventional.

I hear Royal Purple is good, but it's like $10/qt! I used it when I did my differential.
