Put in the drain plug. Tighten it finger tight and 1/4 turn more.

Move the pan under the filter.

Take off the filter.

Let all oil drain out.

Put on a new filter. Tighten it hand tight.

Fill her up with whatever flavor oil you want.

I use synthetic Penzoil. I used to use synthetic Castrol.

Don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard once you go synthetic, you can't (shouldn't?) go back to conventional.

I hear Royal Purple is good, but it's like $10/qt! I used it when I did my differential.

That's not true.

Also you should pick up an e-z drain plug makes life ALOT easier in the future and oil changes a lot less messy

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

I do, just so I can roll under on a creeper.
The drain plug is between the front wheels, and it faces the right. It's 13mm.

No I was talking about the synthetic vs conv oil. I'd think I of all people would know what I was referring to lol. Maybe you read names wrong haha? You didn't know whether it was true or not in your post and I was just replying to that... Your right on the oil change process

Ive been thinking of doing mine, and just weighing the cost differences. They charge me $37 for everything and if i buy my own oil to do myself it'll end up costing more...hmmmm

I used to do mine but came to the same conclusion. I let my local dealer do it now, if you go to your dealers website and look for the service specials link, there's usually an online offer for an oil change and filter for around the $20 mark. Since I've discovered said deal, there seems to never be a gap in valid dates, meaning every month they renew it and you should always be able to get it. As long as your ok with standard conventional oil and oem filter.
