How do i go about diagnosing this problem? I had my starter replaced a few months ago so im hoping its not that. maybe connections issues? Is there any way to check the starter? And as for the connections what can i do?

have no plan of attack but planning on jacking the front and checking the connections? Can one get to the starter wires without removing anything? When i crawl under i had to use a stick to reach em.

Sounds like a simple faulty connection, being recently replaced strengthens that hypothesis. Only real way to test a starter is on the bench and even then you can get false results. Take some time and gain access to the wires, disconnect them and reinstall properly, making sure all are secure and unobstructed. Sometimes when installing electrical components in the depths of the engine bay, a bastard bit of grease/dirt/fairy dust can find it's way onto the terminal and kill your continuity. If cleaning and reinstalling doesn't work then you should probably pull the starter and insist on a warranty replacement from wherever you got it. Off the shelf reman's from the parts stores have about a 20% fail rate, so if that's what you got, you'll be proficient in the starter swap soon enough. If you got a reman, my advice is if it's bad, return it and pay the extra $ for a new one, they have a much smaller failure rate.

Which head unit did you decide to go with? I'm about 12hrs from pulling the trigger on a new Pioneer and swapping out the year old Clarion... It's expensive being OCD sometimes...

Hmm. Not positive, he told me he's still doing the work. I'm just getting stock bulbs replaced.

I picked up a used pioneer z130bt. Good price, came from a dodge. So figured I'd be set, but seller didn't know what he was talking about. Said had amplified stock radio. I plugged in and didn't work. Later I figured out harness didn't have amp turn on wire connected. His wasn't amplified obviously. Also his harness didn't have the piece for steering wheel controls, kinda guessing didn't actually have those either. And his Sirius set up missing antenna. Said never used. It. Anyways liked xm better so picked up an xm receiver. What a difference head unit made over stock. Jus from what I heard tonight. Down the line I'll prolly through in a 10. I have a 2 12 bandpass box that was in my WJ and doesn't have as much space leftover in the WK, so downsizing. Lol.

not reman, i think it was a tyc brand new, too tired to dig through my emails lol. I had a family mechanic swap my starter, he did state my wires looked fine, no corrosion or anything serious.
Im really hoping its just loose connections. I believe the yellow starter wire is the culprit? i poke/wiggle at that and it cranked right up.

How does that wire remove? Just grab hold of the pigtail and pull? No tabs to press on it or anything?

I believe it just clips on. I had the same issue last year and all I did was push it on more

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

Question. When Hooking up factory back up camera to aftermarket radio. I can't tap the reverse signal upfront? I have to run wire to back no matter what? I'm using the pac rp4-ch11. And I'm now looking to connect the reverse signal. I thought it would be behind radio. Perhaps the 3rd wire in the back up camera harness. Am I wrong? I followed How to: Connect Factory Back up Camera to Aftermarket Head Unit

But I figured maybe another way?

Thank you in advance.

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

You can go to your starter and see if the trigger wire is disconnected if not then uyse a volt meter and see if you get voltage when someone in the car tries to start the jeep. You can also run a wire from the positive side of your battery to the starter trigger wire terminal and completely bypass the jeep to see if it works correctly. If you wiggled the wires and it worked its most likely a loose connection.

That's what I thought, but it's been a while. I couldn't remember what he was called until you said it.

I need a Truck Norris Lego!! There's a Legoland Discovery Center about 12 miles away, in the Atl. I bet they have some already!
