Personally id just cut it some to get a wire in there. That will help some in getting it back in with a power wire going thru it

I don't think that's going to work with this one. This is the one that has a bunch of wires running through it to the left of the steering column. Seems to be 2 pieces, a rubber piece on the engine side, and plastic on the other side. I don't think it's a big deal, with water at that height, I'd just like to get it back together.

When I did my under body puddle lights and turn indicators behind my side mirrors I ran all my wiring through the firewall loom/grommets. To get it back together you need to pull the plastic ring away from the firewall (it has 4 clips that snap into firewall) and then reseat the rubber grommet to it, there's a small channel that the plastic retaining ring fits into, you'll know it's right because it fits tight and the plastic will be inside the grommet. Once you've got the rubber back in place and it's all one tight unit again you just push it back into the firewall til all the snaps click securely in place. Not too difficult once you get it away from the firewall and inspect it, you'll see how it works. If you can't get it let me know and I'll try and get a couple pics for you tomorrow. Next time you want to run wire through without disassembling your grommet, just use a stiff piece of wire and tie your power wire to it, then poke it through the rubber and pull it from the other side. It'll fit tight and keep the water seal, not as clean as through the loom but easier if you're into that.

Awesome. Thank you. I appreciate it. I'll letcha know if I can't get it back together. Such a tight squeeze in that area. I poked hole through with screwdriver and I couldn't get wire (8 gauge) through. I also tried using needle nose pliers to stretch hole and no luck. And then the pieces of the grommet separated and then I tried from other direction. I'm going to try the grommet where the hood release cable as others suggested and if I can't get through there I will get through this one and get it reassembled. Thanks again.
