what did I do to my WK. I filled up. Gas prices keep fluctuating around me in NJ. Filled for 3.15 for 87 this AM. Speaking of filling, last weekend I got to station with "4 miles left to tank" according to EVIC. I normally don't go that low, but was away for the weekend, and was waiting to cross into NJ for some cheaper gas. Anyways, it only took about 18 gallons. Aren't our tanks 21? So my WK is telling me I will only get 4 miles out of those last 3 gallons? LOL
Haha sorry man been busy with looking at schools and work haven't had the time yet! But this Friday I will no more lagging!

I did this week. I ordered one on Monday and tie was delivered Thursday. I disassembled it and took the blade to get cut at the local hardware store. When I reassembled it I wasn't happy with the fit and finish so I worked it over a bit. The screws that come with it are absolute junk, super soft and strip just taking it apart the first time, once I got em out initially I knew I'd be swapping those out. Months ago I went to my local ace and found the correct screws for the oem keys (they were starting to round out as well) and bought a few. I have 3 oem keys and have given some of my Jeep owning buddies/family replacement screws for their remotes as well, but I still had a few left in my bin. I had to mill out one of the holes to allow the slightly larger head of the new screw to recess, (if you do this, take care not to go too deep and take away any purchase the screw will achieve when installed), the bottom screw went in fine. If you were able to find the right screws with a smaller head to more closely match the ones it came with, this could all be avoided, I was working with what I had. Other than that it was pretty straight forward, swapped the internals from one of my oem remotes over, wound the spring tension about 1.5 turns, I did cut a small strip of electrical tape to take up the slight gap between the case body and the metal loop for attaching to the key ring, it had minimal movement but would've driven me insane, you'll see if you get one. All said and done, I like it well enough for now, it's a bit bigger than the oem when extended but much nicer in the pocket. I'll give it a couple months and see how it holds up. I'm only in the project about $8 or so, if any of y'all dive into it and have Q's, just hit me up. Hope this helps anyone on the fence to decide one way or the other. Although this might have been a pain are you satisfied with the final product? Thanks I love the folding key so I'm still going to get one

@Strongjeff & Rkirk shifting down (aka manual shifting) DOES fix the problem (well it's 10x better).

@Rkirk when I was "granny driving" I hit 3rd at 30mph...

Pretty much EVERYTHING I do is WOT (0-whatever or whatever to "before that light turns red!" or coasting to whatever... )

Looks like I gotta spend some time getting the scanner connected to the phone...

On a side note, what I did today was clean MAF sensor!!

Before:

It doesn't have a "kickdown" in the traditional sense, but if you're cruising and stab the throttle, your trans absolutely should drop a gear. That's one of the characteristics of the automatic transmission, if it just stayed in said gear it may as well be a manual trans. If I'm rollin along and punch to WOT, it drops down 1 and sometimes 2 gears to take off. If I go to only 80% or so, it barely climbs until it gets to the top end of the gear, then it's making good power again. If yours never downshifts under heavy power request, I'd check that cable and confirm that you're actually achieving WOT. Or just use the auto stick and have fun with it, either way man, just my .02...

Ya man, I dig it so far. Wasn't that much of a pain, I'm just too particular sometimes so I create more work for myself to make things right. I've only been running it a few days so haven't had much time to form a well rounded opinion of it yet but so far so good. I figure for as cheap as they are, a little polishing is acceptable and even expected, seems to be of decent quality.

I'll triple-check it on my way home this afternoon. What your saying makes sense: if you stomp on it, it thinks, "Oh crap! I better drop a gear (or two). He means business..." Rather than 80% throttle when it's like "Ok, no need to hurry. We'll get there!"

I *DO* appreciate your .02 (and everyone else's, too)!! Before I started reading on here, I NEVER would've had the brass to even think about taking off the TB to clean OR replace it!!

Been up to a lot. Replaced upper ball joints with adjustables, replaced passenger side cv axle, removed axle housing and pressed out inner seal, drained and filled diff, tightened strut spacers, machined spindles, mounted brembos with new rotors and pads, bled brakes, reseated the motor on the cradle, flushed power steering system.

I may switch to royal purple just because it looks so cool. I mean how can anything go wrong when your oil is purple?
