With a 24" extension, you could move it to where the CAI filter is...

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

drove through a huge rusted bolt, completely ruined my 20" tire, could actually see through the hole it made.

since all 4 tires were worn, makes me think about the follow up.

i've been wanting a bit more off road worthy stuff to roll on, like 18" and aggressive thread.

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

yes, always an expensive hobby to get 20's punctured.

btw, Alex47er, i like your setup with the mamba 18 inch wheels, did you lift it, or use any spacers?

that's cool, what kind of lift do you have? I just got new koni fsd shocks so don't want to replace those.

Do you have any pictures from the side maybe?

I have a rough country 2" lift. But I was running the same tires even before I had any lift. No spacersImageUploadedByJeepGarage1408312491.170275.jpg

since all 4 tires were worn, makes me think about the follow up.

i've been wanting a bit more off road worthy stuff to roll on, like 18" and aggressive thread.

You could look on CL for some JK Sahara take offs. They're the 18" with a 255/70/18 Bridgestone Dueler A/T and usually go for around $500-$800 with varying tread depths, and usually you'll get all 5 so you'll have a matching spare. It's a decent A/T tread, not too aggressive. If you go that route you may want to consider a 2" lift, super easy to install and cheap. You'd also retain your oem length shocks/struts so you can keep your recently replaced stuff. I've seen guys running these w/o a lift and it seems to be ok, but stuffed. You shouldn't need spacers with the Sahara wheels, the offset about .25" less than the WK so it stays away from the upper control arm bolt, you may run into a clearance issue between your front calipers and the wheel spokes, which can be solved by small spacers if you want, I dislike any spacer and avoid them if possible. I'm running the Moabs from a Rubicon with the 255/75/17 BFG M/T KM2's with a 2" lift. I removed a minimal amount of material from the caliper where it contacted the spoke, not sure if the Saharas will even have that issue as well. If you have any Q's or want more intel, feel free to ask, always down to help a Jeep brother. Here's mine for reference. The 2nd pic is in my driveway and is sloped forward, there's no rake as it may appear. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1408318031.947676.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1408318081.247224.jpg

It's just the RC 2", I installed it about 2.5-3 yrs ago when I took this Jeep over from my wife and bought her new Subaru. I've thought about stepping up to a 4" but I'm good where it's at. I'm off-road quite a bit during hunting season(s), which is most of the year, this setup hasn't let me down yet and I've been through stuff I would've questioned with my Wrangler that I built the hell out of. I love my Jeep and it's gonna suck when it comes time to get a new one because I feel this is the last of the real "Jeeps" that have any off road abilities worth mentioning. The WK2's are nice and all but too much of a luxury ride now, the JK's are still alright, I just don't like that they call them a Wrangler when they've changed so much of the fundamentals that made a Wrangler what it was. Maybe I'm just stuck in the past and need to get with the times, or maybe I'm a purist/traditionalist and always will be... Guess I'll find out in the years to come, but for now I'm gtg.
