Could be different in how thik the metal is but thats it. Maybe the filter is cheaper. You can always put a better filter on it.

As for hydrolocking it.. i would really worry about it. Not like you are gonna be fording rivers and s***. They make dry chargers for the filters to prevent them from pulling water and they also make bypass valves. If i put he filter in the bumper id really only have to worry about puddles that are 2 feet or more lol. The dry charger takes care of splash bro.

The diff in a short ram vs a full cai is basically the intake temperatures. A short ram will pull air thats 15 to 30 degrees hotter than ambient while a full intake may be 1 to 5 over ambient. Thats where you will make the most of an intake.

Ummm yes this is what I do. I have had water splash over the roof of my jeep. It's not about how deep it's about how high it'll splash. I've pulled a car out of a flooded area with my jeep before... ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1409023759.570996.jpg

Well it was just the pops and I and that was before I knew you. I don't know if your jeep can handle Pismo. But we can definitely hit up ocotillo some time, I think your jeep can handle that.

That makes no sense bro. How does depth not matter? Even with an airbox you can hydrolock a motor. Seen a user on here do it with the factory intake on a 3.7. Splash wont matter as much as depth does. Splash water at it all day wont hydrolock. Get that filter submerged... well have fun.

Besides i dont think alex does that much in his own ride. You know he'd get stuck and thats no fun

Well no what I was saying was, was that the water level can be below the intake but with splashing can enter the intake. I don't know man my buddy had an srt with a cai and he hydro locked it in a rain storm. Warranty didn't cover it because it entered thru hood run off and would have been ok if he had a stock airbox. Ever since then I've been scared to even try getting a cai.
