Was this motivated by a need for cooler under hood temps, aesthetics, or a little of both? Personally I'd clean up the cut on the underside to give it the nice finished look, I'd use some rubber U channel stripping, the results will look factory and you'll love it! The material I'm talking about, for example, comes with Bushwacker fender flares to install on the edge of the flares where they meet the body to give it the finished look and protect the paint, just in case you want to see what I'm referring to.
Thanks a lot! I'm gonna answer the questions a little out of order, but here I go. I bought 15 feet of the U shape trimming and I plan to install that after I clean up the edges, but I had to go to work right after I finished riveting the vents on. That being said, I do plan on reinstalling the insulation, I just got caught up in time. As for the water, the vents are right above the engine, but with the plastic '5.7L' cover, I doubt the small amount that gets in will even touch any part of the engine! I got them in the first place because when I wheel, especially for a day wheeling trip, my temps go up to the point where I was uncomfortable (not concerning, just uncomfortable). I went to Rausch Creek twice and both times I ended up opening my hood at every break. Aesthetically I think they don't look half bad! But it is definitely functionality over form and they work extremely well. After parking and with the engine on, you'd think there was a fan blowing air out of these things! The Jeep runs up to 20 degrees cooler. Also, I got them for $150 shipped and I already had the tools to cut, rivet, and drill everything. All in all, I'm stoked with it, especially for the piece at mind!

Thanks again!

Put in front and rear Weathertech floor mats. Love them!ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1437363365.360130.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1437363377.299037.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1437363396.806301.jpg

Also washed and mildly detailed my WK.

Up next:
1. Dash cover (live in south Texas=brutal summer heat)
2. RC 2" lift
3. Bilstein 5100 shocks/struts
4. 1.5" wheel spacers
(will be ordering items 2-4 in the next month, hopefully)

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

Gave my trans a nice overhaul! More info in the build thread.

I got a Transgo Shift Kit, Mopar updated solenoid pack, B&M Drain Plug kit, a Filtermag magnet, and some other small goodies.

Some pics from the Transgo HD2 Shift Kit and the new solenoid.

The five holes are accumulator pistons and inside the pistons are springs. Five springs, all five inner piston seals, the switch valve and cap, as well as the plate to hold it all in will be replaced!

The springs are much stiffer in the shift kit. The new one is on the right.

As for the piston, my finger is pointing to the seal the is going to be replaced. It is replaced with an expander and a new ring.

The new switch valve and cap are on the bottom. They are claimed to be self lubricating.

And the new reinforced plate to cover it all up!

And the solution to my problem to begin with, the new solenoid!

All finished up and ready to be reinstalled!

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

Antenna delete ! in the UK/Europe the antenna is built into the glass of the rear quarter window. So we don't have to worry about blanking holes in fenders !!

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

Installed these led logo projectors the other day. I was swapping out my door speakers and figured I'd try these out while I had it apart. They look pretty good for what they are, just not sure I love the idea yet...

I ordered the projectors from Amazon

(2 x 5th Gen LED car door Ghost Shadow laser projector logo light for JEEP Cherokee Compass Grand Cherokee Patriot Wrangler Unlimited.. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GEYMRY8..._rLSUvbA7MK5MR)

The amber lights are actually a low pro side marker light typically used for street bike applications, I wanted to have a marker light for visibility when the doors are open, I looked at a few options and found these to be of acceptable dimensions. So far they're working out pretty well, here's a link to a similar set, not the one I bought because I can't find them anymore, but I assume they're all the same anyhow.
