Thank you

I bought the last one from Aspen Creek Offroad before they closed up shop. I think Crawl Offroad sells a similar one now. I actually am planning to bedline it as well.

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

Yesterday I installed a curt trailer hitch. Its the one that goes beneath the bumper so you dont have to cut out the bumper cover. It was very easy to do and it seems pretty solid. Now I can use my cargo basket again. I have the wiring on order too in case I really need to tow a trailer. In the 2 weeks Ive owned the wk Ive changed the ds mirror (busted glass) for a mint JY mirror for 30 bucks. New walker quiet flow ss muffler for about $100 including mid pipe and clamps, replaced the rear cargo light assembly for 12.95, replaced the ripped out uconnect microphone with a new one for 30 bucks. Ive got the new cv joint for the front driveshaft $40, havent had time to tackle that one yet. All nice little satisfying projects that went well. The to-do list grows a little every day but hey, its a jeep, right? Oh, and today I used a cheap dollar store scotch brite pad on my sun baked rear bumper step. I used it because we have them at work and I know they dont cut like the 3m ones do. I wanted to remove the white oxidation without destroying the grain or making deep scratches in it. I did this in preparation for painting but it came out so well I think Im gonna just try the re-nu stuff on it now. Ive heard it works well.

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

So, yesterday I finished up my rear step. I hit it again with the scotch brite pad with water. Got all the chalky white stuff off. I ended up with the turtle wax product for restoring black plastic. It came out nice. It does not look new but neither does the rest of my jeep. It is 1000 times better though and it does not stick out like a sore thumb anymore. Just for fun I used the stuff on my mirrors and some other black plastic parts and they look great now too.

And today I installed the trailer hitch t-harness from curt. It went in easy and all my stuff still works. Cant test the function because I dont have anything to plug into it. I might get one of those light up hitch plugs just for fun.

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

I swapped the stock Ronin II and 245/65/17 Michelins for some Wrangler Sahara polished 7-spokes w/ the stock 255/70/18 Bridgestone Dueler A/T's. I got 5 of them for $500 and they barely have any miles on them. I thought it would look too blingy but it goes well with the limited. No rubbing, but a leveling kit would look good.

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

Thanks! After pricing new tires I got on Craigslist and started looking at Wrangler take-offs, best $500 I've ever spent. I've thought about getting a carrier on the back for the spare, but rearview vision would be sacrificed. But it would look sweet. For now I just keep it in the back, and will be taking off the factory spare tomorrow.

First I bought the one on the left from Lowes, but I didn't like it very much. It wasn't gritty enough for me. Then I bought the one on the right from PepBoys which is the one I ended up using. It was a better product.

Did you take the black plastic step off the car before you sprayed it? Or did you just leave it on?

Im thinking since he said "when it was dry, I went out and popped it back on", that he removed it for painting. I took the lazy rout and used one of those restorer products on mine after scrubbing the white oxidation away with a cheap scotch brite pad. Not perfect but 100 times better than it looked before. I didnt remove it because I was worried that I would break it taking it off. His does look good, though.

Re: What did you do to your WK today?

Today I installed led bulbs in my backup lights. I used sylvania zevo 921 bulbs. they are 6000k. They are a much brighter white than the yellowish stock bulbs. I can see things in back of me now. Im very happy with the results. Easy to install too.
