Another forum I am on does this, its great for the little nothings not worthy of a new thread. Its a confidence booster for your WK to let it know even the little things are important... oil change, de-badging, painting bits and pieces, repairs, the fact that you finally got to drive it...
Ill start:
- considering I made all of 2.1 hrs for the 6.5 hrs I was at work, I pulled the grand in, pulled the front end off and rerouted my HID relay harnesses for my fogs and headlamps. When I initially installed them I was slamming them in with no time to worry about wire routing or ballast mounting.
-Checked all my fluids to make sure all was still good considering the open heart surgery done to her a couple months back, all checked out good other than what looks like a slight coolant leak from my radiator end tank.
-dusted her exterior and shined the tires (she got a bath last night but it sprinkled on the way home)
-Installed a steel skid plate!
-Saturday I pulled off my steering wheel to resolve my squeeking clockspring and clicking turn signal cancelor cam, In a moment of NON-thinking I spritzed the clockspring with some spray lube, good news... it is quiet... bad news, I had a "check electric brake system" message in the evic and the traction control light on following. Quickly hooking up the witech I found I had an "internal scm failure". 2 days of driving later it went off and hasnt come back (phew)
So I already made a thread about it but I figure it applies to this thread for more input. I took the jeep to a buddy today who did some checks and he said that it sounds like my clicking noise issue is coming from a manifold
Check this out fellas, pretty cool idea if you hate clutter like I do and want your keys all tight and high speed. I wish they'd figure a way to integrate the remote into the unit so it was completely stand alone, but still pretty sweet if you have a bunch of keys.
So I got under the hood and under jeep because im losing my F'in mind over this noise. The heat shield around the manifolds is very secure, the U-joints are almost like new, no abnormalities in the CV boots and no play in the suspension. The exhaust system is completely air tight... So now i'm leaning towards the flex plate (but after watching and listening to the sound those make, it doesn't really sound like a flex plate)
Ok well it's done. I can't test it because the alignment is WAY off. I'm almost positive it needs a little bit more clearanceing and the pedal is spongy as hell so I need to bleed it out again.
So just power washed my jeep and couldn't help but notice that my passenger side is not sealed all the way due to condensation built up after i painted them. Will i have to bake it and strip it all then redo it or fix it somehow?
Picked up our GC LTD couple of weeks ago and I've been painting bits that SHOULD have been painted when it was built! Brake rotor hubs, front drive shafts, tail shafts they where all bare metal, underneath was still primer so I've spayed over with rubberized sealer and other harder to get to places with LANOTEC and pushing in countless PLASTIC clips a bit tighter!
Well the weather finally hit us here and I happened to go through a relatively large puddle of water... I have the water resistant pre filter over my air intake but I still managed to suck up enough water to bog down the engine and throw the pretty flashing CEL. Only for a moment tho. I let off the gas and coasted when tat happened but it kinda scared me that I almost hydrolocked my engine. I'm wondering what I can do to prevent that in the future... like winter time.
By passes would be nice to have if you happen to submerge the intake. Would allow you to not hydrolock your motor and still draw air in.
The idea is that the valve stays closed until there is enough vacuum to open it. Vacuum created by a submerged air filter. The bypass is alway higher up in the intake track to avoid drawing water thru that...
AEM comes to mind for the bypass valve and there may be a few other brands out there. Just havent seen anyone other then aem.
ok so i've been thinkin on experimenting on switches. I have never done it so i was curious and excited about seeing how it works and how to wire it.
I bought 1 switch to test drive...may wire it like jeepfreak but in green..hence the "alien light"
i am not sure of location tho. I know the left cubby hole by steering wheel but also took some other pics of locations
What do you guys think?
