Another forum I am on does this, its great for the little nothings not worthy of a new thread. Its a confidence booster for your WK to let it know even the little things are important... oil change, de-badging, painting bits and pieces, repairs, the fact that you finally got to drive it...
Ill start:
- considering I made all of 2.1 hrs for the 6.5 hrs I was at work, I pulled the grand in, pulled the front end off and rerouted my HID relay harnesses for my fogs and headlamps. When I initially installed them I was slamming them in with no time to worry about wire routing or ballast mounting.
-Checked all my fluids to make sure all was still good considering the open heart surgery done to her a couple months back, all checked out good other than what looks like a slight coolant leak from my radiator end tank.
-dusted her exterior and shined the tires (she got a bath last night but it sprinkled on the way home)
-Installed a steel skid plate!
-Saturday I pulled off my steering wheel to resolve my squeeking clockspring and clicking turn signal cancelor cam, In a moment of NON-thinking I spritzed the clockspring with some spray lube, good news... it is quiet... bad news, I had a "check electric brake system" message in the evic and the traction control light on following. Quickly hooking up the witech I found I had an "internal scm failure". 2 days of driving later it went off and hasnt come back (phew)
I was responding to a post from a person who could not loosen a line nut, and was using the wrong type of wrench and also rounding off the nut using a cresent wrench... I'm not sure why it showed up at this tread location. But it also just might work on the wheel valve stem cap also, now that you mentioned it
This jeep will NOT let me live in peace. Front axle shaft thankfully only one this time is spewing grease again.... Atleast it's got a lifetime warranty
Quit bein a puss and just charge it already!! That'll take care of any lag or lack of power at any range. I'm actually surprised Jeff hasn't mocked one up yet, I've played with the idea of retro fitting a kit from the JK's. Wouldn't be that difficult, just spendy, ~$2k-$3k...
So just snapped one of my bolts on my oil pan.. nothing is leaking so far with fresh 7 quarts in... the little shit just kept turning so i thought it was loose.. am i shit outta luck or good for awhile till i find someone to fixed it?
You may be able to use a bolt out tool to get it out. But if not you can try to tighten the bolts on eighter side of it to put more clamping force on the broken one. Just be very carefull not to break them.
My advice is to go get a bolt out kit and replace the bolt...
Ya its on one of the few That are easy to get to thank the heavens.. ill only took it around the block a few times and going to wait till the morning to add more maybe.
And we've all screamed obscenities at a vehicle as well, even come up with creative new hybrid swears in the heat of mechanical battle. That's next level kinda shit brother! Good on ya.
Well I ground down the last thread and managed to get the but to thread on. And of course with my luck the nut cross threaded and FUBAR'ed the threads. And the best part, it took so much force to get it off, while the car was in park and the ebrake on the I still managed to turn the wheel on the other side and rolled the entire car forward off the jackstand by a few inches. And my jack stands are damn sturdy

Ok to all of you that don't know (I think Jeff knows) I'll explain what happened here. This repair was not really the jeeps fault and this is the first repair I know I kind of f'ed up. It all started last week when I replaced the upper ball joints. I gave the upper control arms to Midas to press out the old ball joints and put in the new ones. However on one of them he put the ball joint in upside down. I didn't realize this and never checked for it (partially because they looked symmetrical to me). When I put it all together the ball joint snapped with the rotor and caliper on the spindle and it hyper extended the cv joint and tore the boot a little. At the time I realized it but couldn't do anything about it. After having gone thru this and a hard 14 hour workday and being dog tired I guess I got a little careless when installing the new cv shaft and didn't mind putting the nut on the end when hammering it in. You guys know the aftermath.

So justin and i are pressing chad over at blackops to make us suspension parts to compete witb bwoody. He likes to bash bwoodys quality but hasnt made parts. After some pushing he has agreed to talk to his engineers about making us wk1 owners some parts.
Lets show the wk1 some lovin and go press the issue at blackops. We need this guys.

it does do better than the wk2 market, BO have trouble selling some of their wk2 goodies which is a shame but i do agree once it comes time to pay...we are nowhere to be found lol
I got no problem paying if the parts get made lol. I've probably got $1,500-$2,000 into my suspension lol. If it pans out, sweet. If not, no harm done to me!
So I got a ghetto ass idea. I'm thinking I'll loop a chain around the cv joint and tie the other side to the tow hook on my other jeep and throw it in reverse and pull it out. How about you try picking on someone your own size you bitch?
I agree with these guys (I know I haven't done anything crazy like this) but I would hate for you to fix this problem and **** up and start another problem ya dig? Not worth it have a glass of water let your mind chill then slowly attack with a plan
Hmmmm have been reading on the jeeps unlimited forums and a lot of the guys go thru the same problems I have. I guess it's just a byproduct of going wheeling....
