Chem lights go a long way too. Ive used them. Good for at least 12 hrs of light. 2 or 3 will light a room up enough to see what your doing...alex knows about em too

Comes in alot of colors too.. also different brands are different levels of brightness. I personally had some that were terrible or just one was cause for an ass chewing. None the less good idea man.

I pack a box of em for when we go to the field. Just enough light to see what im doing but not so much to disturb anyone sleeping nearby.

Probably been mentioned already but a small med kit too

If you go in the snow, a small candle can provide light as well as a good amount of heat -like if you get stuck and it's freezing outside...

Besides my Glock, I also carry a Gerber Magnum folding knife. The guys laughed at me when they saw that on my duty belt one day and asked what I planned on using that for. I simply replied, "seat belts." That stopped the laughter. Wasn't long after that I noticed several knives appearing on duty belts.

Another item I keep handy is an ASP collapsible baton. Snapping that sucker out really takes the wind out of one's sail, if you know what I mean.
