With Llumar tint they have an Air80 film that rejects almost half the solar heat (~45%), pretty much all UVs (99%), cuts glare, etc. it's more like a dark film without being dark. It's a 78% tint. Another good option to look into.

I would have loved to tint my w/s 5%, but being my DD I didn't want anything to obstruct night, raining, snowy, foggy, etc vision. If its your first time tinting a w/s really give it thought. Though it may look bad ass just make sure it'll be safe for you and not cause to many problems with the local law. The darker side windows will make the light w/s tint look darker too.

Re: Windshield Tint

I had tint on my windshield in my GTO when I bought it. Don't know the tint percentage, but I couldn't see my own headlight beams at night. I thought it was spooky. The car looked good with all the windows blacked out, but I couldn't drive that way at night. I suppose if you have a medical need for it that makes sense. I had the tint removed and bought prescription sunglasses. $300, but they can go with me when I exit the car...

In california no tint is allowed in the front, except a 6 inch band at the top of the windshield, as I recall.

Re: Windshield Tint

Looks good, but stupid IMO. Especially driving at night. Cutting back on glare is one thing but just to look good is another. My front's tint is even hard to see out of at night sometimes. I can't imagine driving over the pass at night with nobody on the road and a tinted front windshield. That, plus I get a slight reflection on my windows from my dash lights, which is distracting.

You can't even tell my front is tinted while driving at night. Totally safe! I even let my mom drive mine while I'm out of town on business and it doesn't bother her at all. She actually likes it a lot, especially in the daytime it cuts down on glare.

From my understanding and asking a similar question, tinting down in the 50% range is when you cause nighttime visibility problems when driving in un-lite areas. Personally I wouldn't do it on my DD, but 78% is fantastic for a DD.

I'm going to get my front drivers side and passenger side windows tinted soon. Most likely 20%. I'm also thinking about the sun strip. Those of you that have tint full windshield or just the strip. Do you have pictures from the outside to see how noticeable the cuts in the film are? And from the inside is there any light bleed through around those parts?

If you're going to do the whole windshield and the strip, they should tint the whole windshield first and then do the strip. There will be no noticeable line. If they want to do 2 pieces, leave and go to a place where they know what they're doing.

Not doing full windshield. Just passenger and drivers side front windows and possibly strip at top of windshield. As far cutting, I was referring to what others have posted about the high beam and rain sense sensors and the tint being cut around them.

Ah...my guy laid the strip on the outside of the windshield and then with a light from the inside, cut around the sensors. Installed the 2 pieces separately. Came out good.

Gotcha. Are the spots without tint noticeable from the outside? Noticeable on the inside? Any pictures my any chance. I'm looking into a few places. And one of them told me when he sees in person he will give his professional opinion of how he will handle it. I'd rather know upfront then make an appointment and then have to turn away. I'm looking at place in Staten Island, Ny where I grew up. I'm in NJ now. It's not a far drive. Just a bridge and toll. But I don't want to go and then walk away. Would be different if I was able to go right to the next. But I'm sure all need appointments.

No noticable cuts or anything inside or outside.
