05 wk 4.7l exhaust question

I'm looking at exhausts for my wk I have around a 300-400$ budget being a college student.. I'm looking for an exhaust that sounds pretty tame until you get on it. I don't want much drone at highway speeds either I know some drone around 67-73 but I'm usually going 80.. Looked at the flowmaster 50 series but some say that isn't a very good exhaust! Looking for help! Thanks guys

a little out of the price range you said you wanted to stay within, but this might be a decent option for you?

I recently installed 18' magnaflow muffler costing 320$ Canadian (parts & install) including 3' tip. With a cai and tuner it sounds like this

That's with stock piping and just muffler. Don't need full cat back system, it already have 2.5 stainless steel piping to begin with and most restricting part of stock system is muffler so upgrade that and yeah should be fine. If u want it quieter get a 22' or 24'

She sounds good, but the #1 most restricted part in the 3.7 and 4.7 exhaust are the cast iron manifolds. I picked up a fair amount of mpg's and .3 sec in the 1/8 mile just switching to headers from the manifolds!

if your interested, you may be able to make headers from a 05 dodge Dakota work on the jeep. my headers came from a liberty and they bolted up on the grand

Re: 05 wk 4.7l exhaust question

I actually changed my mind right now for exhaust systems with the K&N Cai installed it sounds how i wanted it to without even installing the exhaust.. I still need the performance end on the exhaust however so I think im going to save and have a borla full system installed, also how do you like the hypertech tuner? I have yet to find a tuner for the 4.7 what kind of performance/mpg improvement did you get out of it?

There's a couple for the 4.7 and I've had both Hypertech and superchips and both were good I do however like the superchips one better , more options the Hypertech seemed to idle better and did see good gains in hp and torq but superchips has more options and does feel like it gives more gains but I feel runs a lil rough at idle but that's just what I think
