1/4 mile time

Took the jeep to the track last weekend. Ran it three times. First run was 15.2@ 90mph, second was 15.4@ 87mph, and third was 15.5 @ 89mph. Does this sound right? I have a CAI, 91 tune, and magnaflow 3in cat back exhaust. i though that i should have been running closer to 14.2-14.4. please advise. thanks

Re: 1/4 mile time

For a pretty much stock 5.7 that's about right. The big choke point is the very restrictive exhaust log manifolds. With my mods. (see signature) my best time ever was 14.09 @ 97.XX mph. I am going to try again next month with a little different launch technique and see if I can get into the high 13's.

Re: 1/4 mile time

Just wondering how well will a 2010 with a Hemi would do in the quarter mile since it has about 27 more horsepower over the earlier models. I don't race my Jeep but I did perform a couple of mods. I installed the "Sprint Booster" for safety reasons (throttle lag was too long) and a Moroso catch can to help keep oil from feeding back into the engine.

Re: 1/4 mile time

In theory you'd think the 2010 would do better with the Eagle heads and Variable Valve Timing. I believe it is also heavier though and not quite as fast. I know that some of the newer SRT's (pre 6.4) are not quite as fast as the earlier ones in some tests. Here's a ref. that may give you a little idea though:

My Quarter Mile - Database results: Jeep stock 0-60 and 1/4 mile times

Re: 1/4 mile time

I really don't see what you are telling me from this chart. I would like to see what the out come would be with the two head to head in a race. Although I come from an era of the first GTOs and 442s, I would not be the one participating in that competition. My first car was a 1958 Chevy impala that had tri-power. I broke the turbo-glide transmission (new at time. It was supposed to replace the power-glide tranny) 3 times. Thanks for the info......

Re: 1/4 mile time

Since I last read your response, I have been searching for something to say that the 2010 Grand Cherokee Limited with the Hemi is heavier than the earlier 05 to 09 models with the same equipment.

Sure wish mine only weighed 4220 lbs. I'd be in the low to mid 13's if it did. Mine weighs about 5000 lbs. with me in it and a quarter tank of fuel.....4795 lbs. without me in it.

yeah that's 4220 full tank without me in it. it like 4370ish with me plus a full tank. that's just a benefit of being rwd tho and a smaller motor. them gears and torque management are killing me tho
