2006 3.7l grand cherokee engine

Hey I recently bought a 2006 grand cherokee laredo , gas milage isnt a prob cz ive been driving a C320 Mercedes so its basically the same gas milage but I have a question about the cherokee's engine : does the 3.7 L engine in a 2006 model shutoff half of its cylinders on the highway ???

Re: 2006 3.7l grand cherokee engine

I get around 21mpg on the highway in my 07 cruising around 65-70mph. Sounds like you're right in the wheel house. And no, the v6's do not MDS.

MDS was introduced in the 05 Hemi.

Sometimes I get 7.1 mpg ( 33.1 l/100km ) sometimes I get 16 mpg ( 14.6 l/100km ) on the same route same conditions like same traffic condition same tire pressure same weight everything is the same except the fuel consumption varies , so why would that happen ? What could be causing such difference ? Could it be a bad fuel pump or smthn ?
