So walt do you think I could it with the special MAF Sensor cleaner ? I know it got to be covered in soot and oil I looked into the intake it is pretty bad looking. I am going to be installing a catch can soon.
My apologies ChrisWK
. Somehow, I read '07, not '05. There is also a parts manual for '05's at the WKJeeps.com site if you want. The picture in your link looks right, but pay attention to jeepgcoman
's note on the mounting style.
I have never heard of MAP Sensor cleaner before. I'm a skeptical marine/mechanical/nuclear engineer, so I would be looking to see what chemical is in it. Also, look for some specific text that says it is safe for MOPAR MAP sensors.
Not sure if the MAP sensor will clean and function normally afterwards. The MAP sensor works on a silicon-based piezoelectric diaphragm. Pressure deflection causes it to generate a voltage. Sets atmospheric reference pressure at startup, then measures intake manifold pressure as a primary input to the PCM to set the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio (nominally 14.7). You can re-set reference value by going to WOT acceleration.
On the '08 HEMI WK's, it is located in a very tight spot at the back end of the intake manifold, under the Heater intake grill. It's a PITA to change (need a stepstool...) so I didn't want to do it twice.
