Did the pics posted above help at all? Seems kinda tough to spot any differences just looking at the top of the manifold. I can probably get a pic tomorrow but with the resonator on, I get home late and dont have too much time to spend out in the garage.

So how exactly can you port an intake manifold? All by hand?

Ryan, whenever you get those projects out the door I'll ship mine out but still kind of waiting on an 09 and up pic.

They did but I still need a 09+ 3.7 manifold comparison picture. Ultimately the best way to look would be to obtain both manifolds, in person, side by side, and then compare....My logic is that typically Chrysler will not use a more expensive part unless it is superior to the preceding part. I would like to avoid buying 2 manifolds just to find out they are identical...which they could be.

The manifold is done by hand just like the TBs. The ends of the runners can be massaged by removing any sort of rough edges or inconsistencies , or unnecessary corners in the runner. Air does not like turns, especially abrupt ones. The top of the plenum can also be smoothed out. The inlet to the plenum can also be enlarged to be just smaller than the gasket. What can be done depends on how good or bad the manifold is as a whole.

Well, the 07 and later manifolds are not interchangeable with yours so its not relevant to you. Additionally, unless JeepKid and his gearhead friend are completely incompetent it appears Chrysler never intended for the intake manifold to be removed without pulling the engine with it. The pics I was shown seem to imply that the front of the manifold hits the headbolts AND the cowling, and when pushed back it hits even more on the cowling. So, cowling modifications are necessary to pull the manifold out. Alot of work for a 3.7 V6 in a 4800 lb vehicle.

I dont understand how that could be if Scott supposedly swapped manifolds on his 4.7 WK with 2 extra cylinders...maybe the 4.7 sits further up front than the 3.7?

I am guessing that when the WKs are assembled they drop the engine in almost 90* to installed height, then rotate it once it is in the bay. or even brought in from under once the front suspension is removed. Either way, I dont quite understand.

Re: 2008+ 3.7 WK owners....ASSEMBLE!!!

^ LOL I really do not think it is us making a mistake we spent hours yesterday twisting and pulling and even called in some other people to take a look at it and try. We even cut some of that insulation off which turned out to be pretty thick stuff but still did not provide enough clearance. I will take a saw to it tomorrow. Drastic measures have been resorted to. I cannot keep driving that dually. 8 MPGs is killing me. This needs to be done!!!

07 is likely just as much of a PITA to remove.

05-06 is probably easier to remove, the inlet (which is part of the problem on the 07+ manifolds) seems to sit lower from what I can tell.
