2010 5.7 cylinder head differences...(see also: exhaust headers)

New member, my first post but I have been following the forum for years.

I've been doing research on the ever popular but non manufactured WK 5.7 upgraded exhaust headers. Please correct me if I go wrong with any of these statements: Being as I have a 2010 5.7 Hemi, that means I have a third generation 5.7 Hemi that produces slightly more HP (357) than the 05-08 Hemi. This is due to a different kind of MDS called VVT as well as some other changes in the intake manifold and cylinder heads. These cylinder heads are known as the "5.7 Eagle heads" and have a D shaped exhaust port (vice a square exhaust port on older model heads). All of these things being true...

THE REAL QUESTION IS: Is there any point in trying to install a set of stock SRT headers for less restrictive flow or do I have different 5.7 exhaust headers than the square shaped ones i've seen guys post on multiple forums? Is it safe to assume that if I have a hemi with D shaped exhaust ports on my cylinder heads that my exhaust manifolds have matching D shaped ports as well? Any and all help and insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for listening!

Luke

Re: 2010 5.7 cylinder head differences...(see also: exhaust headers)

Welcome to the forum.

The Eagle heads have the same port design as the 6.1's and 6.1 headers should bolt right on. As with any exhaust manifold work on a WK, it's a real tight fit though. I believe only aftermarket headers available are long tube headers for the 6.1, and I understand some have had problems with the rear O2 Sensors with this set up. Don't know for sure if it's true though. If you use stock SRT exhaust manifolds, you may have the same clearance issues with the transmission case (bell housing) that folks have found with the early Hemi's that use the 545RFE transmission.
