3.7 dosent rev past 3500rpm

i noticed accelerating onto traffic it dosent speed up,like its got a dead spot
gradually runs up to speed, lack of power. So i was at a stop, put it in park and slowly revved engine, breaks up at 3500rpm like its hitting the rev limiter.
thinking maby CPS?got new ngk zfr6fgp spark plugs 2 months ago,bin running great, except last week it shut off at a red light, but restarted.cleaned air control valve, clean TB,new air filter.idles at 700 rpm in drive with brake on.97k miles on the clock. Thanks in advance for help with this.
p.s i did a search but didnt find anything on this.

Re: 3.7 dosent rev past 3500rpm

When in park or neutral the engine will have a lower rev limit. 3,500 for your V6. It's there so people don't rev the daylights out of it trying to show off and blow the engine.

Other than that have you checked for any codes?

Re: 3.7 dosent rev past 3500rpm

Could it be a bad catalytic converter?

Re: 3.7 dosent rev past 3500rpm

no check engine light,so no codes..i tried the key on,off,on,off,on past the acc but dont think i did it rite cause it didnt say anything on the evic like my old kj used to show.the 05 wk does show codes on the information window rite?
engine has little power on acceleration, then takes off so im sure that cant be rite.
