Re: 3.7l performance love

i got some mods planned to really help the 3.7 out in a few area's. Ease of rev, power delivery, throttle response and fuel efficiency. all together should pick up nearly a second in 0-60...hoping to break into the 6sec range. the details will come in due time... until then its my secret

let the guessing game begin lol

Re: 3.7l performance love

So, who else would love to shoe horn this onto our 3.7s?? I wish tuning wasn't such a pain in the ass on these things.

id love to but the issue is not tuning, the pistons are the problem. you'd blow up a 3.7 on 6 pounds. piston ring lands in the 3.7 are only 1/8th inch from the top of the piston.

Back around 03 or so. Kenne bell was developing a s/c kit for the 3.7 on six pounds and it blew after a few dyno runs. Put down 302 before it went. Kenne bell had bigger injectors and tune to go with it. After it blew they torn it down and discovered that the ring lands broke off from being too high up on the pistons.

Re: 3.7l performance love

Thats a shame. I would love to have a roots blower pushing 6psi of boost. I had the same issues on an 03 Tiburon that had an Alpine (eaton) supercharger insalled. The piston rings were also close to the top of the piston. 4-6 psi was a safe zone and anything above that was asking for problems (as far as longevity and reliability). The car still made 257fwhp @ 6psi (172 stock) and was a blast to drive.

Well I know where to get internals for us. Granted there 4.7 parts but in the very least we can get pistons. The factory rods should be able to handle 8psi.
