Figured as the 3.7L is the underdog of the engines, and limited to after market support, it would be nice to have one thread of all available performance parts for our wk's. This will be a on goin work in progress with updates, and I need your help as im not god and don't know all. :D

Those headers dont fit, that was confirmed awhile back Im pretty sure.

Uhmm as far as upgrades goes you got a lot of it. Also, a lot of SRT stuff can bolt directly up to the Laredo for some nice mods.

SRT Brembo brakes (see Scotts thread) or even BIG brake kit from them :)
SRT Bilsteins
SRT springs/aftermarket

Ignition wise there is nothing beyond the scope of what the tunes can do. Dont think you'd be able to swap the entire ignition system without some serious computer/programming stuff like with anything but again with enough time/$ anythings possible haha

Change sctflash.com to Hemifever@aol.com (the best SCT tuner ever! :))

Flow Master for exhaust
Www.TheFastman.com for ported throttle bodies

As far as JBA goes, I contacted them awhile back and they told me they haven't had an 05-10 WK in the shop to test fit. If anyone lives close to the JBA HQ you should call!!!! They told me summit racing offers a full refund(less shipping), which they do if it doesn't fit, but I don't have the funds or the time to mess with it all if it won't even fit.
Best they told me was take the picture with me and compare to the manifolds on the jeep and see..... Might fit with custom exhaust modding. DEF wont bolt up to the stock Y-pipe.

Here some other info on the Wa580 all the 3.7s have:

TRANSMISSION UPGRADES:

if your not lucky to have the dipstick for the trans (not all wa580 came w/ them :( I got lucky :) will save you $ so you can do the trans swap w/o going to the dealer or just make your own ds i guess?

http://www.lxforums.com/board/f325/want-trans-dipstick-wa580-194610/index3.html

Also for trans performance blue tops increase shift speed and firmness, easy swap into the Valvebody if you have some tools and some time

http://www.mbworld.org/forums/c36-a...lenoid-modification-faster-firmer-shifts.html

Also some info on getting TCM tuning instead of blue tops. Been debate over this, some go for tuning other blue tops, both seem to have their pros and cons like anything.

I remember awhile back on the red site a guy offered that service for NAG, I think if you look online you can find the tuning to help improve shift quality overall :)

Updated (diff and covers)

soontobsrt, i read the tranny post. i dont follow. i know MB and Chrysler are pretty much the same but is our tranny the same as the E46 (or whatever model MB in the thread)

sorry should have clarified - but yes those are the same blue tops. The c63 has 7 speed though not the nag but the thread was reffering to that becuase its a common benz transmission i guess, i was just listing for the part # not the actual car haha

but here better link of right ones. Not sure if this is a good price as of now? Awhile back I think they were like $200 for a whole set but it was awhile ago is I could be wrong

http://www.chargerforumz.com/showthread.php?t=104447

another place with them:
http://moesperformance.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1280_1409&products_id=12577

heres red site link, shows a guy who has had them 20k miles no issues, not the thread i thought it was :(

http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?p=745430

hope this clarifies haha

It looks like in the near future we will be experimenting with 3.7 Intake Manifold porting as well.

http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=27709

That particular thread is particularly for 2007-2010 3.7s but if demand and results warrant it I will look into the earlier manifolds as well.

Im also now doing a taper-ported TB for the 2007+ crowd that is 67mm in the front and 69mm in the back. Im the only vendor who enlarges the back-side of these TBs.

Keep us posted.

So someone does have the jba's on a wk? Looks like it from other thread. Thats good to hear, seems like the passenger side is a pita as expected  Would have been much easier to do when I did the strut install, but ahh well, guess I have new mod to save some $ for :D

Anyway, the most I could see getting into this 3.7 performance wise would be:

HF Intake Tube/Filter
Intake/TB Port Job
JBA Shortys + Full Exhaust
UD Pulley (if you dont have bumpin' system of course)
SCT Tuner to really take advantage of new flow

Should net some nice gains overall to liven this thing up a tad and give it a nice little xost note

#22 ·
I agree. The 3.7/4.7 are essentially the same motors, and they like flow. They will never be torque monsters by design. By taking advantage of the OHC design along with reducing parasitic losses (i.e. UD Pulley), you can have stock or improved low end response, and really take advantage of the engines nature by design.

#23 ·
Looks like the 3.7 is moving up in the world. Woo

I am thinking of pulling the trigger on the Gibson catback system for the 3.7L. I like this model because it increases the pipe diameter to 3", versus the stock 2.5"

My only concern.... will this increased flow reduce backpressure too much and cause a noticeable decrease in torque? I have read both sides of this, and some says its a myth. Anyone have any input?

#28 ·
Backpressure is a myth. I like to think of it in terms of energy (heat), flow, and velocity.

If you put on too large of piping, you'll have all the flow you need, but because it will take longer for the hot exhaust airmass to move (reduced velocity), you losevthat heat energy. Exhaust gases need heat to move on out. This is why many resort to wrapping or coating their exhaust, to retain that energy.

Killian will also do them....and he is much cheaper. Although he hand ports them. He has a flow bench in house and 40 years of experience so there is little if any difference between ports.

I can also port heads upon request but without a flow bench it is alot of work making sure everything is symmetrical. I can do clean up/minor porting, anything else Id prefer to have a flow bench to back everything up. Whenever I move into a house (hopefully early next year), I plan on making a flowbench.
