hmmmm maybe im distracted by the sound...

i raced my buddy the other night and he has a lifted dodge ram 1500, exhaust and super chip as well... he's got a 5.2L hemi but had 5 ppl in the truck i only had me and my gf. We were neck and neck the whole time up till 85 mph... no shifting just shifter in D and pedal to the metal... i feel like i should have passed him.

at 2k RPM do you get any extra rev from your exhaust when you're slowing down for a light or something like that? I get that... and have no idea how or why its doing it.

Dgoral I never noticed any hp gains, nor did I notice any hp loss. You might pick up a few hp, but nothing you can feel. The most restrictive part of the exhaust is the cat, so back pressure should be similar.

I am no expert by far, but it seems that most cars/trucks that I've read on, seem to make the most power dumped at the headers. Obviously back pressure with this set-up is pretty non existent.

I just think that with all this added noise it sounds faster, than it truly is.

Just the ramblings of keyboard mechanic.

i tend to agree.. i will get a better feel when i re program the superchip in the Jeep.

Im starting to think that the whole myth about our jeeps CPU learning the SC tune and eventually everything gets returned to stock might actually be true to a certain extent.

I'm not sure how similar these jeep are to the lx, but for them to wake up your car again you have to pull the fuse to the pcm I believe, everyone refers its it as fuse 11.

so i re programmed the Super Chip last night and to my surprise the Jeep runs completely different! I've got more power than i had before and my throttle response is quite epic.... weird that the re program would have such an affect, oh well, im stoked!!!

What you are seeing is the adaptive learning doing it's thing.

When you reset the PCM, you are resetting the adaptives, meaning these correction factors get erased.

Ryan, how often would you say i need to reset the PCM? seems like its pretty often, maybe about every 3-5k miles

I have had a Gibson Cat Back on my 4.7l for about 2 years now. I love it! It does move around a little bit because I used the muffler clips provided by Gibson. I just kick it back into place. Does anyone else have this problem?
