Hey guys, i just ordered a Gibson Cat Back for my 4.7... just wondering if any of you installed that system by yourselves or got it done by a muffler shop?

it looks like its a bolt on application so i should be able to do it at my buddy's house but if anyone had minor complications along the way with installing this same application a little heads up would be nice...

thanks!

Lucas, i tried taking a pic of my system from under the frame but they all came out crappy.

This is the system i purchased...

i havent had it long enough to figure out the mpgs

however the low end torque is an interesting question... i dont feel like the jeep is any faster at all... i hate to say this but i almost feel like my jeep felt more powerful with the stock system on.

i am going to re program my SC and see if that helps anything but i notice 0 power gain and maybe even a little bit of loss.

i am wondering if its due to the lack of back pressure with such a flow through system??

anybody with any ideas please chime in

i had a professional install it... i watched him use air powered tools to install everything. I know what a leak sounds like, and i dont hear anything like that... although the overall exhaust sound could over power that leak. I will take a closer look when i get home later today, thanks Lucas.

hmmmm maybe im distracted by the sound...

i raced my buddy the other night and he has a lifted dodge ram 1500, exhaust and super chip as well... he's got a 5.2L hemi but had 5 ppl in the truck i only had me and my gf. We were neck and neck the whole time up till 85 mph... no shifting just shifter in D and pedal to the metal... i feel like i should have passed him.

at 2k RPM do you get any extra rev from your exhaust when you're slowing down for a light or something like that? I get that... and have no idea how or why its doing it.

Dgoral I never noticed any hp gains, nor did I notice any hp loss. You might pick up a few hp, but nothing you can feel. The most restrictive part of the exhaust is the cat, so back pressure should be similar.

I am no expert by far, but it seems that most cars/trucks that I've read on, seem to make the most power dumped at the headers. Obviously back pressure with this set-up is pretty non existent.

I just think that with all this added noise it sounds faster, than it truly is.

Just the ramblings of keyboard mechanic.

i tend to agree.. i will get a better feel when i re program the superchip in the Jeep.

Im starting to think that the whole myth about our jeeps CPU learning the SC tune and eventually everything gets returned to stock might actually be true to a certain extent.

so i re programmed the Super Chip last night and to my surprise the Jeep runs completely different! I've got more power than i had before and my throttle response is quite epic.... weird that the re program would have such an affect, oh well, im stoked!!! :D
