Re: 4.7L Catalytic Converter replaced

cat should only be replaced when codes come up indicating it needs replacement. Or if there are visible defects like rust holes but I think that would cause it to throw a code.

Re: 4.7L Catalytic Converter replaced

I was wondering if you can tell me where and how you configured the cats into the exhaust system (i.e in relation to the upflow and down flow sensors). I unfortunately had a blown head gasket on my 2005 GC 4.7L on the #7 cylinder, after alot of work I got that repaired but due to the misfiring and the coolant it wiped out my catalytic converter. I noticed that magnaflow offered a direct replacement cat setup for the 05 4.7L, but after contacting them, that part #49686 is not even in production, even though online retailers are offering them for sale.
so, Your solution sounds great! Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Thanks,
I just had mine replace with the same universal ones mentioned above and I had to go to about 6 different shops until I found one to install them. They all said they were to big and there was no clearance for them to fit. I did end up having them install them directly in place of the old ones. Basically your just cutting the old ones out and fitting then welding the new ones in there place. So far so good for me. Im not getting any codes yet and my gas mileage went from 12-13 in the city up to 15.5-16 so mine were completely destroyed before i replaced them with the magnaflow 99106hm.

Re: 4.7L Catalytic Converter replaced

I am going to order magnaflow 99106HM and have a shop replace my bank 1 converter shortly. Everyone still has no problems after doing this?

Re: 4.7L Catalytic Converter replaced

I replaced both of mine and drove about 1 week without a code then it came back. I got a check engine light for bank 2. Look at it and it look like it is leaking around it from a poor weld job. I think once I seal it completely i shouldn't have any problems with it.

Re: 4.7L Catalytic Converter replaced

Has anybody tried these on a 5.7 yet? Dk of the piping is 2.5" or 2.75" that close to the manifolds.
