4.7l mpg

hi every one im kinda new here and i have been reading other members threads about poor fuel econmy on their g.c. v-6 and v-8 i have a 4.7l with 58000 miles ,and all i have done since ive owned it was to replace all four o2 sensors, new stock spark plugs , and have a flowmaster muffler with duals out the back and my mpg are 22-23 hwy 16-17 city. i use to have a v-6 ford explorer that was getting the same kind of mileage. so im really happy with what im getting with my 4.7,,,,oh i almost forgot i have a k&n drop in air filter as well.

Re: 4.7l mpg

I'm around 18-19 highway and somewhere in the 13-14 city range. PA/WV roads can be pretty twisted and hilly but anything even close to the 22 range seems pretty impressive to me.

Re: 4.7l mpg

Yeah my rough evic milage sticks around 15mpg... where I live my commute is up up UP and down down DOWN every day, no way around it, I probably have about 1200' in elevation change (up and down added together) every commute 5 days a week. In the city Ill quickly drop to high 13 range, if I am in a bad mood ill be in the 12's

Im just at about 180k and still pluggin along!

Re: 4.7l mpg

Dont trust the evic, I do it with fuely and its quite a bit higher then my evic since it has no bias on the bigger tires

Re: 4.7l mpg

Yeah, I just use it as a reference to let me know when I need to chill out ... I always calculate EVERY fill what my mpg was. Typically I am in the 14-15 range calculated.

Re: 4.7l mpg

Fuelly has got me a 14.3 AVG through 11 fill ups since 6/25/11. That's with a 55/45 city/hwy split. Highway miles are anytime I'm on the interstate. Most of my city miles are legit city miles with stop signs or traffic lights every block.

That's pretty impressive, although not in a good way. Why do you fill up so frequently?

Fortunately my commute to work is only 3 miles, so despite the horrible city mileage, I can still get some decent time between fill ups.

Re: 4.7l mpg

I get around 14-15 mpg doing mostly city/suburb driving with my 4.7. I can get 20-21 on the highway if I am cruising for a long time. Mileage goes down in the winter due to gas blends and warm up time. Sounds like I need to redo my exhaust system soon to help increase mileage.
