Re: 5.7 car motor into 05 cherokee help...

It'll be a big headache, and not really worth it if you ask me. The magnums used the NAG1 trans. Oil pan and oil pickup is different between the 5.7 in the car and the 5.7 in the Jeep. Plus all the electronics and everything else, huge can of worms but sure it can be done.

If you part out the 4.7, I will buy the intake manifold for the right price...

KB kit is junk....don't waste your time. The blower itself is way too small to support real power.

I already told you what you needed for 300 crank....Just add cams

Can't just slap parts together and make it all work. Boost is great, but if the compressor is out of its peak efficiency its alot of work and money for nothing.

Re: 5.7 car motor into 05 cherokee help...

While I can't speak to the complete swap, as said above, I am sure it would be an ongoing PITA. I also own a Hemi Maggie and a Hemi WK and, just off the top of my head I can tell you some of the differences. The Hemi Maggie uses the NAG1 trans. so you'll have to stick to the 545RFE unless you install the WK SRT NAG1 and (probably) transfer case. The TCM for the Maggie is a separate unit (under the dash by the steering column) and the WK's TCM is built into the PCM. I think someone mentioned using the 4.7 PCM, but the 4.7 doesn't have MDS, so this may not work. The oil pans are different (because of the 4WD, unless you have an AWD Maggie), so you'd have to get a 5.7 WK oil pan. The wiring harnesses and power distribution boxes are located in different places....Maggie has one in the spare tire well in the rear by the battery, and one on the front passenger side in the engine compartment. The WK has both up front on the driver's side. Don't know if/how this would impact anything, but for sure would be one of the biggest challenges to figure out. Hope you're good at chasing the FSM wiring diagrams for both vehicles. They'll make your head spin, just figuring out how everything is intertwined. I am sure there are many other things to consider, but I know I wouldn't want to tackle it. If it were just an engine swap between a 5.7 WK and a 5.7 Maggie, I'd say, not too big a deal. All I can say is, good luck if you decide to take this one on.

Re: 5.7 car motor into 05 cherokee help...

I'd agree with the "no go". The exhaust would also have to be completely redone, as the manifolds are different, as is everything from there back. Why don't you want to keep the Maggie? I love mine. What kind of stuff (accessories/add-ons) is on yours? Are you planning to part it out?

Plus, I do not believe the Dodge Magnum used the 545rfe (perhaps the W5A580?) tranny found in the V8 Jeeps, so you may have some problems there as well. The 4.7L jeep does have the right transmission, but I do not know what would be required to make it work with the Hemi motor out of the Magnum.

Why not just sell the Jeep and Magnum, and use that cash to buy a Hemi Jeep?

Re: 5.7 car motor into 05 cherokee help...

even if all this magically works, you will have a very week jeep that will fail eventually and youŽll get back to the beginning.
Sell both and buy what you need, WITH the engine already in it.
