Re: 5.7 turbo tune

With a turbo you better get a custom Diablosport CMR (ChipMaster Revolution) or other tune specific to your application. Also, hope you're not running too much boost on a 5.7, unless you have forged pistons. With any of the canned tunes you'll be running too much timing and too lean a mixture for forced induction. With the canned DS tunes you can adjust both, but you have to know how to set it. That would require a way to monitor knock retard and a wide band O2 setup/gauge to monitor fuel mixture. I'd go with someone that has forced induction tuning experience on the 5.7's.

Re: 5.7 turbo tune

Cool!! I'd keep the boost toward the lower end...7-8 lbs. at most. Early on, over on the LX forums, when they first started messing with forced induction on otherwise stock motors, they grenaded lots of 5.7's, almost all because of running too lean or too much boost. The top ring land on the pistons would break under the increased compression pressure. Fuel mixture is probably the most important. Are you putting a waste gate on it, and are you running stock exhaust manifolds or having a custom setup made for the turbo? Where are you mounting the turbo? Have fun and good luck with it.

Re: 5.7 turbo tune

i have a guy building custom turbo headers for me. im looking to have the turbo mounted where the stock air box is right now. i will have a wate gate on it and a intercooler mounted infront and below the radiator, i am building the kit myself, it will be rated at 25psi and 700 hp, but i will have to get new pistons first. i am also having a custom cam spec done for me.

Re: 5.7 turbo tune

If you're going to run forged components you can run a bunch more boost too. That'll make it scream. Make sure you beef up the transmission a little too, before you run it too much. A shift kit and a pressure boost will help a bunch.
