6.1L intake tube on 5.7L?

I'm looking to replace the bulky air intake resonator tube on my 2009 Grand Cherokee 5.7L. I saw that Airaid makes a nice replacement, but it's a bit more than I was hoping to spend. Has anybody tried installing the intake tube from a 6.1L on the 5.7L? It's looks like they're about the same size, but I'm not sure if the sensor fittings are the same. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Buy an Airaid Jr. Intake.

Re: 6.1L intake tube on 5.7L?

You may want to look at some of the WK SRT-8 forums in their for sale areas. Should be lots of complete stock setups available for cheap.

Re: 6.1L intake tube on 5.7L?

Before buying a 6.1L intake I was hoping somebody would know if it actually fits on the 5.7L without any modification. The Airaid Jr. kit is a good back-up plan, though...

Well, the truck is the same, and the TB is the same(at least interchangeable), so i can't see why it wouldn't

Re: 6.1L intake tube on 5.7L?

Others are running this set-up, you're good to go. Jeepgcoman is right, get the whole set-up. I've seen the whole thing sell for $25.

Re: 6.1L intake tube on 5.7L?

And yes, it is a direct swap. Heck I made an LX (Magnum, Charger, 300C) SRT-8 setup work on my 5.7 WK. Had to do a little modding though since it's mounted on the driver's side on the LX..

Re: 6.1L intake tube on 5.7L?

I have one on my 5.7. The top and lower airbox are the same. I was thinking about selling it.

How much are you asking? Are you unhappy with how it works on your 5.7?

Checkout Cherokeesrt8, some are for sale or just post up a wanted ad. Sold my setup for like $40 shipped. I have a brand (couple thousand miles on it) new k&n drop in filter for the stock 6.1 intake for sale if you need one.
