No it doesn't get wet but I put a dry filter on to be safe. I looked at afe but wanted something to remove plenum. If afe's tube went all the way to the TB it would be perfect.

Its the big plastic piece that says 4.7 on it. It is mostly for sound. When you remove that and put the K&N on or whatever you put on it is louder and sounds like you have a aftermarket muffler on. It sounds better and throttle response is better IMO. I wish volant made a kit for the 09 4.7 that way you keep enclosed box and get better flow. I am very happy with the K&N though. If you get k&n get the one with plastic tube not the metal one.

Thank you, think I'll go with the k&n, do you know what model pre filter you got? Can't seem to find which one to get for the 57 series.

Re: AFE Stage 2 for 09'

57 series is 50 state legal. 63 series is not legal is California. Think that is only difference. I would go with 63 series.

Re: AFE Stage 2 for 09'

I have the AFE Stage 2. I like it because it only replaces the tube going to the plenum and retains the lower bottom half of the airbox. There is no need to replace the plenum on this truck. I had a K&N and hated it.

Throw a magnaflow in the back and get a tune, call it a day..

FYI, the plenum also prevents your truck sounding like a vac cleaner at cold startup . Its loud haha. Don't worry its normal with a full intake setup.
