The airaid needs to have the existing air box in place to secure to. It uses the base of the existing air box. What I would remove is the the piece of plastic at the left side of the grill. By doing this you will let more air directly into the area of the filter.

The one that is part of the original air intake system, correct?

did you notice any difference on the butt dyno by replacing the air resonator with that upper pipe? or any difference in sound? I am contemplating doing this mod, but am not sure if its really worth it, and that accordion looking piece of the pipe looks like it would disrupt airflow if anything. i wish we could make a smooth piece to accomplish the same thing.

i gained 2mpg highway, throttle response improved for sure and you can actually hear the intake now when you step on it.

The sound and MPG are my favorite parts about it. Not to mention it has "3.7L V6" stamped into it, so it looks 100% stock.
