Re: Airaid or K&N?

Hi FastOrange,

We have a system for the 3.7L engine, but unfortunately only a drop-in filter for the stock box on the 4.7L.

There seems to be some confusion in this thread regarding our filters. Airaid offers all of our cold air intakes with either our SynthaFlow oiled and SynthaMax non-oiled filters. Which one is better? It's really a matter of personal preference. They filter the same (down to 4 microns as independently tested and verified; the test report is on our website) and flow virtually the same (within about 5%). The dry filter is easier to maintain (you don't have to mess with oiling the filter), while the oiled filter will go longer between cleanings.

As for the construction of our filters, the critical difference is that our filter casings are made with polyurethane, while most of the other filter companies use a form of rubber. Urethane is impervious to heat and vehicle fluids, whereas rubber will tend to break down over time. All of our filters are hand-built at our factory located in Phoenix and go through an extensive QC check before they ever make it to a box. Lastly, the filters have a lifetime "No Hassle" warranty. Hope this helps!

We never want to say never, but to my knowledge there's nothing in the works at this time.

So it would appear that our Grand Cherokee coverage is a bit spotty...we have 05-07 3.7L engines covered, then we jump to 5.7L coverage, but for some reason we don't have 3.7L '09s covered. I guess we're kinda batting 1000 today!

Re: Airaid or K&N?

Does anyone know what the little "bulb chamber" is on the left side of the 2012 5.7 stock airbox?
Probably going with either/or the (anyway):
AFE-looks like uses the stock "ram scoop" turning the airstream down then into the box-less water?
Volant-the ram scoops from the stocck location-more ram air but some water can get in?

Re: Airaid or K&N?

That is a subject for the WK2 forum, not for this tread.

Back on subject, I have used the Air Aid Dry a lot of very fine dust driving conditions and the result was very good regarding oil cleanliness after 6,000 miles change intervals.
