Re: anyone with the 4.7 running a flowmaster 50?

I just got rid of my Flowmaster 40 series today, spent 1 hour in the shop.
I had the Flowmaster for 2 weeks and couldn't wait to trash it, too loud, too much drone, just not for me.
Just installed a Magnaflow today, and I love the sound.

40 and 50 are completely different.

50 Series is nice and quiet until you get on it.

I had a flowmaster 50 series on my 99 4.7. It wasnt to loud and had a nice deep growl to it.

I've had a magnaflow catback for about a month. Sounds great! Helped with gas milage too. (I also have K&N CIA) but I get 25 highway. 19 average all together!

Re: anyone with the 4.7 running a flowmaster 50?

I had the flowmaster 50 series single in and dual out on my 4.7 and loved it but it didnt hold up. One of the interior baffles came dislodged and began to rattle. I decided to replace it with a stainless Magnaflow muffler and I wish I had the 50 series back. The magnaflow that I put is too quiet and produces some in-cab drone. The 50 series has something I believe is called an H-design which i think was designed to reduce the drone effect. It had a bit more of a throaty tone to it. Heres a link to a video clip of my jeep and the flowmaster 50 series http://s678.photobucket.com/albums/v...t=DSCN2759.mp4

Hey all, new here and so far extremely informative. I've been looking into the Flowmaster 50 also. Sounds nice but I've never been in the cabin to hear if there is any droning.

Re: anyone with the 4.7 running a flowmaster 50?

I have the flowmaster 50 on my 4.7L WK.

It is honestly a little louder than I had hoped but it sounds mean as shit IMO. It has a wicked resonant frequency right at 2100rpms and so you really cannot do 68-73 for long periods of time. Above or below that and it's not noticeable. I would do the 60 series if you drive this thing all the time and don't want it to be too loud.

I have a voice memo recording of it on my phone that I can email to you if you PM me an email. It sounds badass.
