Re: Apexi super voltage stabilizer 5.7

I've been looking at this option for a while and finally decided to try it. I purchased a C-West Hyper Voltage Stabilizer from ebay (onsale $13). Mostly because it came in an aluminum house as opposed to colored plastic. I admit I was skeptical, but at that price and free shipping, I decided to try it. I also ordered a grounding kit, but only installed the stabilizer so far (one at a time).

I was surprised at how much quieter the 5.7 sounded, I couldn't hear as much of the "clicking" sounds at idle. The MDS sounded smoother during my test drive, and I guess the acceleration felt a little smoother during a quick sprint on the highway. I did not notice an improvement in throttle response, so I'm guessing that's more related to the TB grounding. I also have not driven in enough to comment on mpg.

So were the changes because of the stabilizer, or the ground kit?

Check the last line of the first paragraph.

Re: Apexi super voltage stabilizer 5.7

A $13 ebay part in a fancy aluminum box made that much difference?
Color me skeptical.

Re: Apexi super voltage stabilizer 5.7

Ok..well after researching all these voltage stabilisers I went with a Japanese one and a 5 wire grounding kit on my 05 WH 5.7 Limited.

I drove a 1400km trip with a best mileage of 12.8L per 100km. Fitted everything at my mates shop and drove it in town for the week then to Sydney and 1200km back home.

After the trip my fuel average was at 11.6L per 100.. But the smoothness at idle and thruout the rev range, less noticeable hesitation when mds is active, and throttle response during mds activation and when coming out of it has me convinced there's definitely something to it. Overall the hemi feels much more refined, more like the LS motors I'm used to building. I'm a +1 for giving it a shot...

Probably just the grounding kit. I just don't see any way an electronic device that you ground from positive will do anything to an electrical system other than slowly drain itm

I'm guessing it's basically a smoothing capacitor. It completely blocks any DC so won't drain the battery but it will short out any high frequency AC interference. This filtering is usually done in the supply side of the circuitry anyway. Too bad if the capacitor blows and shorts your battery.

Wouldn't that only be beneficial if the power being filtered was the supply for the rest of the vehicle? The instructions for the ebay rigs say power to ground.. so whatever you just filtered is grounded anyway..

This....I can only vouch for how the Apexi unit functions. The Hemi sounds and feels much more refined, particularly at WOT. It is a LOT smoother, quieter, and more responsive at all RPM.
