Re: arrington cai group buy

My Arrington CAI arrived last week so I had to wait for my Jeep to be ready and I wanted to get some miles on it before I installed it. I was going to wait for 500 miles to pass but I just couldn't wait any longer. I did clear 200 miles on the motor yesterday so I took the plunge.

I had to fuss with the IAT sensor but I managed to pop it out with some WD-40 and a flat screwdriver without breaking it. It has a solid plastic cap on the inside so I think that helped.

The install was straight-forward and the heat shield as a nice bracket to keep the stock 6.1 grille scoop in place! Nice touch IMO. The Heat shield fit good too although I had to finagle it into place since I didn't remove the coolant overflow tank.

The clamps are top notch t-bolt clamps and the ratchet only tightened them so far before the bolt got in the way. I had to use a wrench to finish tightening (which I dropped once and spent 10 minutes in the dark trying to find it in the engine bay!).

The only confusing part is that the CF tube has 2 holes with rubber grommets. OK, IAT sensor in one but the 2nd hole? I need to find a plug at auto parts store and get a breather cap for the manifold. Or maybe I could attach a tube to the 2nd hold for the manifold breather . . . IDK.

Here's a picture!

Gonna dyno it in a few weeks. I'll bring the stock airbox with me and do the swap. If I can get a hold of other CAIs, I'd be happy to see if I can test them too.

CAI on a diesel is bad due to just sucking in hot air unless u try to tuck it away somewhere or build a heat sheild

alltho i would like to have a better tube as the stock one doesnt seem to have the best air flow design
