Re: ATTN: 5.7/6.1 owners w/Diablo....Look in here

On the CMR's can you do the following:
1. Can you make the 06 545RFE into a complete autostick like the NAG1's and I guess the later 545RFE's? The NAG1 has a "5" position, and also when you come to a stop and then restart, you have to manually upshift to each gear, when in autostick mode. Also, downshifts, when in autostick mode, are instantaneous and it will not kick down to a lower gear, unless you minus (-) the shift lever.
2. Can you adjust the torque management like you can with the SC ATT App.?
3. Can you adjust the MDS activation/deactivation parameters?
4. Can you adjust the "normal" light throttle timing?

1)the resolution on the 05-06 TCMs is not all that great. Diablo does not have complete trans control for 05-06s.

The problem with this fully manualized trans tune is that it would cause premature wear on the clutches and such if downshifts werent kept up with.

The control we have would completely change the manners and logic of the trans and even just left in D, would feel much more positive, and directly connected with your right foot, which is what I assume you are looking for (i.e. that connected feel you get with a manual trans).

To answer your question, yes we can....to a point. But we cant go so far as to turn Drive off.

2) Yes. We can dial in a certain level of TM.

3) There are rpm limits for MDS. We would have to verify if it is supported for your PCM.

4) Yes. We have control of part throttle spark.

Re: ATTN: 5.7/6.1 owners w/Diablo....Look in here

Thanks for the info. What I want from the 545RFE is for it to work even half as good as the NAG1 (DS modified) in my Hemi LX. This thing (in the WK) is, IMO, garbage compared to the NAG1. I have the Sonnax Line Pressure Booster in the WK and that helped a fair amount, as does the latest (9r12) crom firmware. The other thing that reaaaaallllllyyy bothers me is the WOT kickdown on the highway. It hesitates like it's sleeping. After it wakes up it'll usually kick down one.....and then two gears. It's kind of like it doesn't know what to do when you pour the power on. It's like, "You want me to do what??"

Decreasing the TM a little would definitely help the shift quality/firmness, and ET's at the drags. Too much reduction though could be detrimental to tranny life though.

I monitor absolute load for activation/deactivation of the MDS. I haven't paid any attention to how that corresponds to the RPM though. On mine it comes on at ~29% or lower and goes off at ~31% or higher, absolute load. I'd like to have it come on at ~32% and go off at ~35% load. That, I believe, would be about perfect. I don't think It would adversely affect anything in the drivetrain. It would be something to at least try, if you have the capability to make adjustments.

Some adjust of part throttle spark would definitely also be helpful.

Re: ATTN: 5.7/6.1 owners w/Diablo....Look in here

Well, I suggest you take a look at Greg aka JeepCoop's review of our tune. He went from a $$$$ Johan CMR to just a plain jane 91 canned file with our trans tweaks. He is still running our tune because he loves it. Im waiting for a log from him, and then we will likely be fine tuning his PCM as well.

We change the behavior of the 545 entirely. Downshifts come NOW and with MUCH less throttle. And instead of kicking down from 5th to 3rd or 2nd prime, for more moderate passing it will go from 5 to 4 or 5 to 4 to 3. We also change the way the converter acts...this especially comes in handy with a stall converter.

What I am trying to tell you, is that we do exactly what you are looking for.

TM reduction eliminates clutch slippage that would otherwise be there to soften the shifts so while I agree that a little TM is a good thing, there is much more in the calibrations than is necessary. We cut out alot of TM, but there is still a small amount left.

MDS adjustment is something that is not always an option and is a little complicated to play with. It is not based on load, but when it is in fact there it relies on rpm. With your setup you may in fact see better gas mileage with it off. The vast majority of people we have tuned turn MDS off.

We have control of spark and fueling.

Well Once I get my Predator to calibrate with my 05 GC Hemi, I like to get a tune from you. Do you do tunes for 93 octane ? I like to do your 91 tune but do not have 91 octane in Ga. I like your prices for tunes.

Later

Chris

Chris, we can do whatever the CMR software lets us do...93 octane would be no problem. Are you looking for both PCM and TCM tuning? Send over whatever canned tune you are running with preferably a log to go with it, and we'll return something special...

Any 2009 or 2010 5.7s out there that would like a TCM tune?
