You are so freaking lucky I just sold my 3.7 because it was given me so many problems.. Now that I own this 4.7 liter v8.. No one makes headers for the damn thing!! Why on earth would they do that.. What is the 285 not special enough to receive headers ??!! :-( I am going to have to go the exhaust rude but I am so up in the air on it I don't want to get the wrong one and get the wrong sound not get the right Flow. I'm also deciding on whether or not I am going to get a high flow cat Or if I'm going to eliminated altogether.. The exhaust systems that I keep going over in my head are a Gibson Or a Flowmaster.. I just want to try to squeeze as much Performance as I can out of this engine as I can .. I know its no speed demon it's not the srt8 with the 6.1 liter Hemi.. But it still should have some aftermarket products that make it Better than stock!!

well don't quote me on this but i think systems for the 5.7 will work on a 4.7 for a nice upgrade. i seen someone with a corsa system for a 5.7 on a 4.7 and it sounded beast

Re: best exhaust for the money

I just hacked a mangnaflow in mine. The 4.7L already has a 2.5 exhaust on it. Sounds fine.

Re: best exhaust for the money

Ehhh mine has a 2" I think it sounds "ok" but I want that gutteral growl a V8 IS KNOWN FOR!! I Really don't like hijacking threads but what's the sense of Starting a whole new thread on the same topic??

I just don't want to spend money and then have it not be what I'm looking for or have it not get the games that I want or have it actually be worse Than it is... I hate not knowing about mechanics in vehicle stuff.. You need a super accurate firearm built... I can do that!!! you need a house built I can do that from the Foundation to finish.. I can do that as well.. You need a diet/training regimen to become a bodybuilding THAT is my Forté!! But When it comes to anything involving Vehicles..It's like reading Sumerian Hieroglyphs.. Absolutely no clue!!

Basically all I am looking for is better throttle response .. Better towing capabilityWithout loss of power... And that extra torqueNeeded if you're off road sticky situation.. But all that being said I also want It to sound mean lol .. And when I put my foot to the floor I want to feel that power just Surge From the motor to the wheels!! Haha Is that too much to ask??

Re: best exhaust for the money

Throwing any high flow exhaust will help, but really ultimately does not make a difference unless your doing a tune or changing out mechanical parts inside the motor. I've seen guys throw headers back and barely make a change.

You want something that will wake it up? Throw a tune on it. SC flashpaq

Re: best exhaust for the money

I have looked at the Superchips Flashpaq but something that caught my eye even more was the Superchips VIVID LINQ ... Has anyone ever use that it connects through bluetooth through a droid system?? And it seems to have a lot more options a lot moreAbility to tune a certain specifications.. But I could be wrong. Who knows depending on what I get from putting on an intake.. I was going to do headers but nobody make some for this engine so I may have to have them custom built...obviously And exhaust system minus a cat.. And a Tune computer .. Like super chips or Hypertech... Then I may even be brave enough to go And have Internal engine work done.. Who knows but I'll start with the basics first

Your asking ALOT from an exhaust upgrade. Sound is likely the only thing you'll gain.

No no no I guess I should have been clearer.. I was talking OVERALL enhancement for when the project is complete..

As far as the exhaust itself goes.. Sound is pretty much what I am going for just a more of a "ROAR"ish maybe .. ehh a teeny bit better throttle response ... that shouldn't be an issue with the fact I am going to eliminate the CAT.

A couple of my buddy's said to make it with as little "bends" as possible as the bends restrict the flow.. so I wouldn't say total straight but as close to it as possible (if i don't go "Cat Back")

Seriously what are you going to gain from eliminating the cat? You may gain 1 maybe 2 hp and gain a drone. That's not taking into account the stink that will be coming out of your exhaust and the fact you will have to do something to get rid of a check engine light.

Well apparently you didn't catch my newbie comment earlier.. I am going off what I have read. I guess everything I have read was misinformation. Maybe a Highflow CAT then?? Geesh I didn't know everyone would be so condescending... I don't this area, I am trying to learn.. this was a message I received from an *name withheld member*

"u can remove the cats and block the codes for the rear o2 sensors witht he programmer

so u will pass

u can get resonators that look like cats too
this will allow you to get an extra 5-10rwhp and a deeper resonance sound"

100% agree. Free flow exhausts are one of the best and first mods everyone does. Even if you just weld on an aftermarket muffler with stock pipes its still less restrictive and worth the money.
