Botched Throttle Body Install- Fixed!

I attempted to install my flyinryan throttle body today but immediately stripped one of the hex screws. Seems like a chore to get a screw out once totally stripped. I was able to get one screw out successfully that didn't strip at all but they were in there pretty tight. Anybody have experience getting stripped screws out or is this a lost cause?

Re: Botched Throttle Body Install

I would but the stripped one is on the original TB on the wk. Need a way to get it out first.

Re: Botched Throttle Body Install

I might try some vice grips on it if I can get some of these sensors off first. Do these pop out a certain way or are they attached to the TB? I don't want to break anything and then go part hunting. Picture attached. The one in question in the white one.

Re: Botched Throttle Body Install

so, what did you strip ,the head or the threads? if you stripped the head use a dremel tool with a cutting wheel to put a slot in it like a regular screwdriver,or square the edges so you can put a wrench on it.

Re: Botched Throttle Body Install

So you stripped the Torx?

What I've done in the past is simply grind the head off. could be done with a dremel. 1 screw is enough to keep it in place on the new TB to go get another one. More times than not they are easy to remove with a pair of vise grips afterwards.

Re: Botched Throttle Body Install

Yeah I just stripped the head. Took it around to a few shops today but nobody really seems to want to attack it. I might try grinding my own slots and see if that works.

Re: Botched Throttle Body Install

Definitely try the dremel. I eventually went down that route with a cylinder head bolt, after trying everything else.

Wish I'd done the dremel first! Lol

How do I get the cables off the old tb? One just slid off but the other won't go.
