Order one asap!! I can't get over how much junk this thing catches in such a small amount of driving!

Unholy, not in the winter. If it dumps that much in the warmer, drier weather, then I'd worry a little. Have you changed your PCV Valve lately?

Short trips / stop-and-go driving will probably cause a faster buildup. Longer trips allow the water to evaporate off as everything heats up.

It only happened once right before it got warm. This mean it is normal?

Re: Catch Can Results

I went without a catch can for 80K miles, and when I replaced my heads the pistons were caked with carbon... looked like burnt oil since it would flake off. Took me 4 hours to clean them with carb cleaner, towels, and razor blade. My catch can fills up quickly here with the creamy mayo... maybe 1/2 inch after a couple hundred miles

Re: Catch Can Results

Dan, sounds like you need a new PCV Valve for sure, but then again, you're in the South where it's almost always damp/humid. What kind of oil have you been using?

Edit: Sorry I mean North East, not South.

I've been using Quaker State Synthetic.... it was super damp here this winter... I got a new PCV valve finally, from rock auto.... it's blue.

Re: Catch Can Results

Which setup is needed to be ordered for a 2005 5.7L WK? (I mean which bracket is needed to mount)

Where is the best place to purchase?

Get the BT catch can with the Z-bracket. It mounts to an unused bolt hole on the passenger side head.
