Re: Catch Can Results 5.7L Hemi

Do the Aussie 5.7's have MDS? If so, you may affect it's operation by using 5W-30. Do you have access to 5W-20?

Re: Catch Can Results 5.7L Hemi

Stupid question but this is my first post so i'll use that as an excuse. For an '05 GC with the 5.7L HEMI, did you guys purchase the 06 SRT BT catch can?
Thanks in advance for the replies! Does anyone have any pics they can post for homemade brackets for the can? Cheers -AP

Re: Catch Can Results 5.7L Hemi

I don't remember which one I got, as it's been several years, but I think it was the one for the 5.7 LX. Here's a pix of my install. There are many ways to do it.....your choice. I am sure others will post up some more pix too.

Re: Catch Can Results 5.7L Hemi

hahaha on the upside down comment. You guys are awesome! Thanks for the posts and information. I ended up with the 5.7 Hemi catch can rather than the 06 SRT one. Those guys at Billet are pretty helpful too. Great place to do business with. Well I do like y'alls setup so I'll attempt to duplicate it. Need to get back out there and see if there's a hole already or if I have to drill through the bar or not. One last question. Would you guys install the catch can first before flashing the vehicle with a Diablosport tuner? My pea brain says I should wait and install the catch can first but I could be very wrong. Thanks again guys! -AP

Re: Catch Can Results 5.7L Hemi

I had to drill my hole and purchase the metric bolt/nut that goes through the support. If you still use your engine cover like I do, be sure to mount it in such a way that the can and hoses will clear the cover. Also, make sure it's easy to remove the cup. It doesn't matter when you update the CALID's with the DS tuner. I think I'd do it after though....no particular reason.

Re: Catch Can Results 5.7L Hemi

All great pointers. Thanks for mentioning them. Will be sure I do some dry fitting before I start drilling. I thought more horsepower that comes with the tuning could results in more oil the "not yet installed catch can" is not catching. I don't know if the power increase from tuning really yields in more oil though. I'll remain patient and wait for the can to arrive. Thanks again for your help! Cheers, -AP

Re: Catch Can Results 5.7L Hemi

No problem. Also, if it wasn't mentioned before, do a cleaning of the back side of your throttle body butterfly too. If it's real, real bad, like I am pretty sure it will be, it'll give you an idea of how much has been getting into the intake, and then the exhaust tracts. If you're not familiar with that procedure, do a little procedure search or ask around.

Re: Catch Can Results 5.7L Hemi

It was bad last time I got in there. Should have ordered the catch can then but I didn't. I'll certainly do another cleanout after the installation and hope whatever I don't get burns off. Thanks again for the help!

You need to remove the TB and clean everything until it looks like brand new, not just the back side of the throttle plate. Yes, It takes time, but the results are well worth it, and the time for this thorough cleaning is when installing a catch can, so it will stay that way. I used a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol, then q tips to get the gunk out in all the tight spots.
