Champion Spark Plugs choices-CC,Iridium,Platinum, or Double Platinum?

This particular website shows various choices for the 5.7 L Motor.
http://www.championsparkplugs.com/re...p?AAIA=1430899
Other than price, is there a reason not to choose Iridium or Platinum? Platinum would should provide for more longevity, but is there a reason to use the 570 series only? My motor is WK 2005 5.7L with the MDS. Thanks for the responses.

X2 ^^^ Like robpp said, stick with the stock "copper core" plugs. Many, especially the 05's, have had problems with platinum/iridium plugs in them.

X3. MOPAR or Champion 570's only, every 30K miles. Both "brands" have the other number on the box also. Both are copper core. Some of the parts stores show Champion 3570 as the standard replacement. They still don't get it.

Experimenters will likely be punished (by bad performance and strange symptoms).

Re: Champion Spark Plugs choices-CC,Iridium,Platinum, or Double Platinum?

I bought my 05 used with 40K miles on the clock. It ran perfectly fine. When it came time for me to change the plugs I took the advice of everyone else and I decided I didn't want to experiment with other types. So I bought the Chamion 570s. I got a big shock when I pulled the old plugs though... Champion (7570) Double Platinum! After reading all the nightmare posts about guys using anything but the 570s I came to the conclusion that I was lucky and probably just a special case. The Jeep ran just the same before the plug change as it did after.

Re: Champion Spark Plugs choices-CC,Iridium,Platinum, or Double Platinum?

this should almost be a sticky. lots of threads in jeep forums about using non-OEM replacement plugs in the hemi and associated problems.
feel free to experiment, but don't say that you were not warned.

Smile Re: Champion Spark Plugs choices-CC,Iridium,Platinum, or Double Platinum?

Trying not to alienate anyone here on this forum(Excellent experienced posters and a wealth of information) ,but can someone please post a link(s) where the use of non Champion 570CC plugs caused a problem? I ask this only since I am by nature inquisitive(Software Engineer on the Raytheon Patriot Missile-Retired) and was taught to "ask the specific "Real world difficulties" that were presented as compared to the norm(I.E.) concensus Champion 570? Thanks for bearing with me and my inquisitive nature. Thanks for any help and "Beat Me up" if warranted. I am nearing 66 years of age and able to take any critism offered. Thanks. Motor is 2005 WK 5.7L with 77K miles.

While you are doing a forum search on this, consider the following parameters:
1. Jeep ran 100K mile platinum plugs on the 4.0L I-6 for years (I had 3 of them).
2. I believe the '08 6.1L HEMI SRT-8 comes with 100K mile platinum plugs. The 5.7L comes with 30K mile copper core plugs. Not sure about the V-6 and 4.7L V-8's (two difffernt style plugs in same engine).
I did a quick search and came up with 5 pages worth of posts. Don't know how to link it though. (.....we're approx. same age)

Re: Champion Spark Plugs choices-CC,Iridium,Platinum, or Double Platinum?

Go over to LXForums.com, or any forum with vehicles using the Hemi engine, and do a search. There are plenty of posts dealing with this. Some are able to "get away with it" and others are not. On some they work for awhile and then start misfiring. Don't know why that is, nor do I care. On this item I follow the FSM and use what is recommended there and in the owner's manual. That way I won't potentially have to change them twice, if by some chance the wrong type didn't work properly. At 66, you're still a young pup (just approaching middle age), and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I have a year or two on both of you, and that's how I know. Alot of it is in the mind.
