Re: cold air intake

i have a 4.7l just recently had a magnaflow 50 muffler 1 into 2 duals, 4" cai that i made with pvc looks great sounds great, i also did the seafoam treatment through my vacuum line and half in the gas tank, i never get on the gas at all , but i read when you do the seafoam treatment you want to open it up on the road. i noticed quite a bit of acceleration and strong pull after i did this it seems to idle alot smoother also . so i was wondering how much of an increasement i got out of doing this.

Re: cold air intake

Its very hard to give accurate #'s without a dyno.Say 20-30 MAYBE, all together.
What matters is.........does it make you smile?

Re: cold air intake

For the money, is it worth getting a full catback over simply a muffler swap?

Piping from catalytic converter to the muffler, the muffler itself, and all piping form the muffler to the exhaust tip.

i.e. everything from the cat back to the tip = cat-back, from what I understand.

Re: cold air intake

^yup, everything from the catalytic converter back to the tip. I just installed my Gibson catback and I'm loving it. Even the wifey likes it! Sounds sick, but honestly it doesn't add much power and neither will an intake. It will add some, but don't expect a night and day difference.

Re: cold air intake

I would even add that the intake you are considering will ultimately probably rob hp, unless you make a heat shield. When you first start driving it will probably add some, but once you reach operating temperature it will be sucking in a good amount of hot air. This is what will take away hp.

Although I am all about playing with my car and doing things myself, and the hp loss will probably be negligible. And it will still sound nice.

Re: cold air intake

I made one right after getting a flowmaster super 44. It definitely helps throttle responce and also makes everything sound nicer. Plan to heat wrap it soon
