hey guys, prob a dumb question but sorry, I cant afford a V8, or a Hemi, or an SRT-8.........some of you guys are lucky bastards........im stuck with a 3.7 V6..... Id like to know if there is any exhaust that would make it sound better than what it does..... I dont want the v8 sound or anything so plz no bashing, but like my uncle has an Infiniti FX35 suv, and it seriously sounds like a niiiiice sports car.....which is what im going for, the engines cant be that much different so guys, any help would be grateful......if you just have dumb things to say, i dont even want to hear it, im stuck with what I have and I just want to make the best of it

i have a 3.7 and bought the Magnaflow SS catback exhaust and K&N CAI at the same time, to let more air in and more air out, I think the two mods def compliment eachother. The magnaflow catback I have on now does sound "louder" than stock, and ive had a few people come up and ask what I had in it from them hearing me coming from down the road. I went with magnaflow because there isnt that many cat back options to choose for the 3.7 and I think Flowmaster is more deeper sounding made for trucks. But thats just me and not having heard too many diff exhausts. I also LOVE the exhaust note on Infinitys, I can pick them out just by the sound of it going down the street, sounds like an exotic car to me IMO. I havent even researched to see whats under them, but wonder if just getting a stock infinity muffler would produce that sound in a Jeep. Im not sure if the sound will come out the same, but I can video mine and post it, before I swap it out for a stock srt exhaust I just got earlier today to install. I cant wait for this thing to be installed.

Ohhh, and I was goofing off on a web site earlier and I saw that my previous 94 GC which was a 5.2 only had something like 230hp, and this 05 WK 3.7 has 210hp stock nevermind the mods ive done to it. I always knew it felt "quicker" than my 5.2, and def alot cheaper at the pumps where i was seriously spending 20 bucks a day to work and back and now I fill it with 40 bucks and almost lasts the week. I actually looked for a V6 when buying this one now because of gas prices and I dont tow or go off road.

I'd love to see video of the sound of yours man, I had a 2001 eclipse gt with a magnaflow and k&n cold airand loved it! But I know what u mean about the Infiniti, I think they only have 3.2 or 3.5 liter so there should b no reason I couldn't find an exhaust to get that sound

Ok, i'll get my camcorder out tomorrow and take a video of it at idle and revving. Im actually curious to hear what it sounds like outside, since im always IN the car. lol. But I know its louder and people def know I have an aftermarket exhaust. After I get this srt exhaust installed I might be willing to get rid of my magnaflow catback system for cheap if someone wants to ship me there stock exhaust for when I ever sell this car and convert it back to stock.

I looked on youtube, nothing really there except one clip that I came across, a 3.7 in a parkinglot that does sound like mine. The magnaflow site has a clip of a WK that does sound very similar to mine also, just slightly louder IMO.

Yea the 3.7 on YouTube in the parking lot is the one i've seen......not too bad, that's sorta the sound I'm going for, I just don't want my jeep sounding like an import....I want it sounding just like the Infiniti, just a smooth nice roar

hey timmyB, ill look into buying yours if you gimmie a good price, n ill ship the stock to you.......but its gotta be a good price haha, and you think you could send me some links to some places who sell exhausts like your talking about, ebay has a magnaflow but i dunno if its the one your referring to, thanks bro

Here's my take on exhausts, when I first got my WK last Oct and was on another Jeep forum I realized I wanted it like the SRT8, I never even heard about the SRT8 before going on that site. When I looked around for bolt on catbacks it was very limited. I actually went and bought an SS magnaflow exhaust and was just going to install it myself until i went under the car and noticed that flange before the muffler and no auto store sold a flange, so I returned the muffler and got this magnaflow SS catback. I figured it was worth the price I paid on http://www.hottexhaust.com/ of $427 hopeing because its stainless I will never have to replace it again for the life of the car. BUT, now I would prob go to local exhaust shops and see what they give me for a price of doing all stainless. As far as the muffler, its all in what you have heard before and sound you want. I hear you with the Infinity, god I luv that exhaust note out of any exhaust Ive heard. It all depends on what you have to spend on an exhaust, the cheapest thing to do would be remove the big ass stock muffler and put a straight thru design muffler on it, either yourself or have a shop weld it on which would save you a day under the car on your back. The price of stainless tubing is about double that of aluminumized steel but hopefully it lasts forever. But no one sees the underside of the car so buying a polished SS muffler is kinda pointless for that extra cost. Oh, and I wanted stainless because I live in New England where the winters are bad and there is so much salt on the roads my underside gets hit pretty bad so I wanted something that can stand up to that. I was just looking at this SRT exhaust i have in my livingroom and was actually thinking of sanding everything and painting it with header paint that withstands temps up to 12,000 degrees and prevents rust and corosion, you could also do that with simple aluminumized pipe for added rust protection.

As far as my magnaflow catback I have on now, If i get this srt exhaust on and working properly I wouldnt have a need for it. I am only going to keep it so I have an exhaust to put back on when I do sell my car down the road, where im sure the person would want the spare tire back. Id sell it for $100 plus shipping and a stock exhaust shipped to me.

I'd like to hear a 3.7 with a Magnaflow similiar to the one Hannes and I both run. It's a 4x14 round muffler, single inlet/single outlet. Run 3" piping.

I bet a 3.7 with intake, TB porting, and some exhaust work would give a stock 4.7 a run for its money...

i bought a muffler and couple of chrome moly muffler bearings, i have an idea of a set-up that should give a sound of a small V8 all for the price of a 30 pack. If the people with a 3.7 give me like a week i should have it done and if it comes out right i dont mind sharing the recipe.

cant wait to hear it!!

Whats a muffler bearing? And shit, I dont even want to add up all the $$ I have in mine right now, but dam I do luv it so far. It should be that much nicer with this dual srt exhaust on it when its on.

How do I post videos, do I have to make up a thing on youtube or something or can I download it right to here?

Your joking right?

I highly doubt that.
