Gen 2 4.7 Swap in to Gen 1?

I was just curious because i get scared when my vehicles get over 100k and id like to know my options should i ever need to replace the engine. Can a Gen 2 Jeep or Dodge 4.7 Be swapped in to an 05 4.7 WK? What else would be needed besides the engine? Wiring harness, ECM and Emissions parts?

How about a 5.7L Hemi swap with working MDS?

Re: Gen 2 4.7 Swap in to Gen 1?

buy a wreck if you want to do the hemi. it needs things like electronic throttle and pedal vs your 4.7 where its all mechanical.

thats just the tip of the iceberg.

i think you could use any 4.7 shortblock you want. juat reuse all your sensors and such. prolly intake mani up needs to stay the same.

Re: Gen 2 4.7 Swap in to Gen 1?

There is a cable operated Hemi TB available that uses 4.7 sensors. Although I dont think its been done in a Jeep specifically , it does appear to be possible to swap it. Several swaps from 4.7 to 5.7 have been done in Rams. It does appear that you'd want the same year hemi as your 4.7.

Re: Gen 2 4.7 Swap in to Gen 1?

No because you'd be using the 5.7 manifold. The cable TB has a 5.7 bolt pattern.

A gen 1 TB will bolt up to the adapter ,the issue according to Scott is that the EGR I guess either needs to be blocked off or a 08+ EGR needs to be used.

You'll also need a custom tune...SC won't cut it

Lets see some pics. The Gen 1 TB doesn't bolt up to a Gen 2 intake....Not without the mentioned adapters.

If you're already running it and have the adapters then why are you asking?
